The first time a reporter asks a really stupid question, he should immediately end the news conference. After a few times, they'll get the message.

The press conference can always be replaced by a more popular conference. The Kings of France would often do this sort of popular appeal when they lost support of the local Lords. A few kings were elected by the people that way. We need to do the same and boot out the elite press and let Freepers and other groups do the questioning as a popular power check against the elite journalistic bastards.

But the press briefings are fun to watch because Donald Rumsfield nails those reporters and their stupid questions. He is good. Those reporters just keep getting smacked down, and keep coming back for more. Have you ever heard such stupid questions in your life?

I remember during Desert Storm when Saturday Night Live did an excellent parody of the media asking stupid question. Maybe they need to resurrect the skit..

The worst question asked of Rumsfeld today:

Can we send reporters along on one of these specfor raids?

This thread/post has some excellent replies on the same subject, (Rumsfield deals with reporters who hate our soldiers!)

Ah yes, it's hilarious to watch Rumsfeld dissemble the media. You just gotta love it.

I'm not sure if it's my imagination or what, but I have noticed over the last several weeks the "reporters" at the Pentagon press briefings have been getting older and older and the dress has become quite a bit more professional. You think maybe the media outlets are starting to catch on and realize this is grown-up time?

Reporters, like most liberals, are people that never have grown up. Their questions are not meant to shed any light but to embarrass. Like kids, they ask the same questions, every day, over and over again. Such as: Can you tell us how many civilians you have killed? Is it true that you bombed a hospital yesterday? Can you give us more details on the civilian causalities? So is it true that we bombed a town full of civilians? What targets did our Special Forces attack last night? What kind of weapons did they use? What is the next target? Can we come along on the next ground mission? Why Not?

Given the pro-Taliban bias of the questions we might as well invite the Taliban press corp. to the Pentagon briefings. The media remains another vast swamp of Anti-Americanism that is badly in need of draining. If there was any question as to the loyalties of the press one has to look no further at how the media, almost all of them, reported leaks from the Pentagon (can’t wait until Rummy finds that traitor) detailing the time and place of our initial ground invasions. These people are below scum.
