,,, New Zealand has some really nice sheep for sure - and I know everyone of them by name!
Recognition for NZ in the terms of what is proposed for Aussie isn't at all on the cards, nor should it be. NZ has opted out of ANZUS or the US chose not to include us any longer because of the no-nukes policy - other threads have carried background on this.
I'm simply sticking up for Australia on this count - many Americans can vouch for Aussie's credentials as a great US ally.

Do you think maybe the vote was designed to be a big F*** YOU at Helen Clark? I kind of feel like all my friends have gone to party and didn't invite me!

,,, not at all. The Aussies have shown their loyalty to the US under the terms of ANZUS. NZ has committed troops to all conflicts - Vietnam, Korea etc but the no-nukes policy has been long running thru National and Labour governments without change or compromise, keeping US Navy ships at a distance. Aussie is a better ally but I'm hoping things will change. I know Richard Prebble will make the nuclear policy an election issue for Nov 2002.

Ron Paul Rocks!

I hope that you are correct about that. I would hate to have my money go to him. There are enough RINOS, to whom it went , before I decided to cocntribte to individuals.
Nevertheless, Paul is STILL masquarding as that which he is not , becuase he would NEVER get elected otherwise. That makes him a political hack and unprincipled to boot.

Bonilla is a liberal. He's typical of republican politicians, most of whom are liberals. Ron Paul is one of the few conservatives in Congress <<
Bonilla has a 95% conservative rating from the ACU themselves. He is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-soveignity, pro-freedom, anti-illegal invasion and anti-marxism. Ron Paul, on the other hand, is one of the few LIBERATARIANS in Congress. You don't see to notice the difference between the two. Most of you southern "conservatives" really oughto to join the LP and stop idenitify yourselves with the beliefs of Reagan and Coolidge. Libertarians don't believe in traditional values, and conservatives don't believe the 10th amendment gives states the right to absolute power to do whatever they please. Unlike secessionists, we DON'T find state governments magically better than federal governments. We perfer INDIVIDUAL rights.

I do object strenuously to RINOs( which includes PAUL ! ) and loathe socialists , Marxists, and Commies. I've done so long before you were born, I bet. But, welcome to that side, dear.
If any group here are the bores, it is the Libertarians . Fringers will , one day, perchance, figure out the fact that they will never live long enough to see any elected gains, for their party.

I agree with you 100%. We need more men like Ron Paul in the HR and Senate . Also agree with other posters that our freedoms are in less jeopardy while Congress is on vacation.
Don't know why Paul voted as he did, and frankly don't care, because I trust that he had a very good Constitutional reason for voting "no".

Nevertheless, Paul is STILL masquarding as that which he is not , becuase he would NEVER get elected otherwise. That makes him a political hack and unprincipled to boot.Anyone with the interest can find out exactly what Ron Paul is, he hides nothing. Your purist viewpoint is why the Libertarian party cost the Republicans control of the Senate. I guess you enjoy Democrats in control. Look at Washington State where Maria Cantvotewell is our new Senator.

Amendment 5 of the bill of rights "[no person shall be] deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law . . . " If Ron Paul respected life and the constitution, he would know what the right vote was on the partial birth abortion ban. The Fifth is a limit on Government, the government can't deprive you or any citizen of life without due process, it does not authorize the Federal Government to pass a law against murder.

Dr. Paul is an old time Southern conservative. Many of us like him have been attracted to the LP in the past, but failed to find a home there. The LP was formed by Goldwater supporters. What you describe as "conservative causes" which Paul votes against are nonsense dreamed up by "social conservatives" who are utopians, not conservatives.
Show me one vote of Paul's against a tax cut, a proposed abolishment of a federal agency, or impeachment of a corrupt politician.
