Tina Brown finally got a Clinton on her payroll.
Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton, 21, has agreed to write a story for Talk Magazine about her experiences during the World Trade Center attack, a source at the magazine said.
"Chelsea Clinton is pursuing a piece for us related to the World Trade Center disaster," the Talk source said.
The story is expected to run in the November issue of the magazine, though the publication date has not been finalized. Ms. Clintons piece is assigned at roughly 1200 words.
A spokesperson for Talk did not immediately return a phone call.
It appears that Talk approached Ms. Clinton, a Stanford graduate who is set to enter Oxford University in England later this fall to study international relations.
Though Ms. Clinton has typically kept a distance from the media, she was so troubled by the World Trade Center tragedy and by the fact that friends of hers lost loved ones she decided to go public with her thoughts, a friend of the former First Daughter said.
"She was so moved by the events," the friend said. The friend added that Ms. Clinton didnt intend to give any more interviews related the tragedy.
Chelsea Clinton was in New York City September 11, the day of the attack. In an interview with NBCs Jane Pauley, Ms. Clintons mother, New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, said her daughter had planned to go jogging that morning around the World Trade Center plaza, but opted to go to a coffee shop instead.
"She was going to go around the towers," Senator Clinton said. "She went to get a cup of coffee and that's when the plane hit."
Senator Clinton said she wasnt able to reach Chelsea for two hours after the attack, and was afraid to tell her husband, former President Bill Clinton, who was traveling at the time.
"Bill was in Australia and he was so upset by what he was seeing on television that I didnt want to tell him that I couldnt find her until I found her," Senator Clinton said. "I told him, everythings fine, dont worry."
Chelsea Clinton has subsequently visited Ground Zero, the site of the demolished World Trade Center, and talked to rescue personnel on the scene.
Reached by The Observer, a spokesperson for former President Bill Clinton declined comment on anything related to Ms. Clinton and Talk magazine. The spokesperson reiterated a standing policy of not discussing anything related to Chelsea Clinton.
This is not the first courtship of a member of the Clinton family by Talk Magazine, which is edited by Tina Brown and funded in part by Miramax, the film company co-chaired by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
The first issue of Talk, which premiered in September 1999, included an exclusive cover story and interview with then First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. Last year, the companys book division, Talk Miramax Books, pursued the rights to publish Senator Clintons autobiography, but lost out to Simon & Schuster, which paid nearly $8 million.
Mr. Weinstein is among the most public supporters of the former First Family, having raised thousands of dollars for the former President and Senator Clinton, as well as former Vice-President Al Gore.
Ms. Brown and Mr. Weinstein also co-hosted a victory party in New York City for Senator Clinton in November 2000 along with Michael Bloomberg.

AHA! Starbucks! They don't call it 'Starbucks' for nothin'!
Chelsea was the one charging the Emergency workers for the water
they requested from Starbucks to wash people's eyes out with.
Didn't ya know?
She doesn't need to attend classes. This article will be parlayed into credit toward a degree. . .
Yes, don't you remember when Chelsea and her MOTHER hillary, were in Africa and Chelsea was badmouthing the USA???? How many remember that???
I have to agree.............Clinton either has his hands on Chelsea or is holding her hand or they are standing closely together gazing into each others eyes..........It seems a little much...........I would think it would be uncomfortable for a young daughter to be manhandled in front of the cameras or anywhere else.
Yes, she was asked and simply stated that she had called them to make sure they were OK.
NO silly embelished stories; NO lies to make them part of the story of that horrific day; NO use of them to garner sympathy or make the Bushes the center of the story! In short she responded with class and like a normal concerned mother! How very different from the trashy, egomanic Clintons!
Do you notice the difference, America?
I'll just bet you somehow WE, THE TAXPAYERS, are footing the bill for these leeches.........blood suckers or whatever else can describe the scumbags.
I recall seeing a tape on CNN of one of her many trips to Africa with Shillery. She was talking to African teens about violence and said that our country was a violent nation with people shooting people and beating up those who were different.
She said this in an African nation where one tribe was commiting genocide on another. Can you imagine?. She was telling them that while their country was bad ours was even worse. It was outrageous and she sounded exactly like Shillery....monotone droning shrill voice. She's a clone of Shillery!
Ya,you're right!! I wonder how many fathers would buy bikinis or any type of sexy clothing for their daughters.........I would think it would be the other way around and they wouldn't let them be caught dead in that type of attire.....Most fathers are protective and very sensitive when it comes to their daughters..........
There are bicycle and jogging paths in that area, particularly on the West side along the river. If she were to go jogging it would have been there. If you look at the pool camera and see the buildings on the right, the main paths are behind that building along the Hudson River. If she had been jogging there she would have been shielded from any debris by a series of tall buidings.
Regardless, I think the whole story is horse****. What infuriates me is that she is taking advantage of other peoples horrible experiences and deaths to sieze her own personal 15 minutes of fame. The apple did not far fall from the tree.
These people are so fullashit, and such losers. I once read a psychological profile of the Clintons, and the guy who wrote it concluded that they live such utterly mediocre and pointless lives that they feel a compulsive need to make things up just to convince themselves (more than others) that their lives even mean anything.
