Neil Young sings IMAGINE at Hollywood show for victims

This morning on Fox News, they ended a segment with a clip of Neil Young, in his old cowboy hat, singing IMAGINE. This was at last nite's show in Hollywood to presumably benefit the families of the victims of the act of war in New York.

We're discussing two different things here. Joan Rivers pulled out of a remake of "We Are Family," where the proceeds are not going to the WTC victims. This telethon concert last night *is* earmarked for the victims.

The songs were morbid, the performers were dull, and the whole thing was a major mistake. Like Laura Lee, I had no clue as to who some of those people were. This was supposed to be an uplifting experience, putting the watchers into a giving mood. After the first 10 minutes, I knew I would not be calling. Besides, the did not show the phone number most of the time. They just assumed the internet address was enough. WHAT A BOMB.

The article talks about Joan Rivers pulling out of a "We Are The World" type singing of "We Are Family". Nothing about the Telethon is mentioned concerning anything deceptive.

Good point on Mr. Hanks. He also stated (loosely paraphrased) that we are "One Nation, Indivisible" -- I thought it went, "One Nation, Under GOD, Indivisible"

Well I think why there is so much outrage over the show, is just for the simple reason most those entertainers are liberals. BIG FRICKING DEAL! Instead of joining together at this time, there are still those that need to find things to bitch about, and it was a fundraiser!! I am truly amazed.

Also, according to foxnews.com, the song Neil Young sang "Imagine", was banned by Clear Channel Radio last week because of it's lyrics. So kudos to Neil Young for singing it last night!!

Ah yes, the Utopian vision of Peace in the World if only we, who have the freedom to listen to Beatles music, all join together and totally ignore the fact that tens of millions of human beings around the world are capable of extreme hatred, envy, greed, lust and violence.

Maybe those people that we saw jumping out of the windows of the flaming World Trade Center were singing:

It appears Hollywood has pulled a bait and switch. The money will not go to help NYC. I was suspicious when I saw it was to go to United Way. Page six is reporting Joan Rivers boycotted ths show because it is to go to victims of "intolerance". One presumes it could be used to help the Muslim community fight back with lawyers etc.against the FBI investigators. Joan Rivers says no money is going to be sent to NYC. The movies industry used the destruction of the twin towers in order to convince people to donate but will use the money for their "human rights" causes.

If this is true, then people should get their money back and send it to another organization. Why didn't the Hollywood set just take up contributions without the fanfare. I am getting tired of the FoxNewsChannel showing their sorry faces on its programming this morning.

A wholly inappropriate song choice, but many of the people who put this on have nothing but a dim memory/vague understanding of either Judeo-Christian religion or American patriotism. Yes, a few know much about both and reject them outright, but I think those people are a minority. "Imagine" is as close to a sacred somg as many of them will get nowdays; Hollywood worships the self, and that particular song is - flat out - all about human beings as the ne plus ultra of the infinite dogma (or whatever it is they call it now). Kind of sad, isn't it? Those cheesy candles reflected, IMO, the New Age pabulum that passes for spirituality with many of them. As for the lack of flags, well, we can't ask too much from these folks... the concept of real, looming evil (not the hoary old cartoonish evil that the U.S. represents to the "proletariat") has probably got them a bit punchy as it is.

I suppose most of these people meant well, but the tackiness is in them right down to the bone. Surely a little "Sinatra-style" covert philanthropy would have become all of them much, much better. If the above reply (about money raised going to PC racism s&!t) is true, then I can't express my disgust in words... even my worst "hit my thumb with a hammer" vocabulary will fail me.

Burnie or not, Neil was (WAS) the only guy left from "the old days" who I would still cough up large $$$ to see. Sigh... I guess I can just plan on buying some ammo with it.

The song is "Imagine", and it's about peace. Lennon was against war and was for peace in the world, which I see nothing wrong with. It also says "imagine all the people living in peace". Learn how to read lyrics.

Tom Petty is usually one "laid back" dude. He was PO'd -- actually snarled the words "And I'll stand my ground...I won't back down." I've never seen him so resolute.

And Chris Rock was visibly ANGRY -- he's usually got that puckish grin/look in his eyes. He wasn't kidding.

Overall -- I wasn't that impressed.

Faith Hill has a fabulous voice. Celine Dion really belted out her song. Wyclef Jean and his group were decked out in the most patriotic fashion of any of the groups there.
