Brit Hume Focuses on Evil as Some'one,' not Some'thing'

Brit Hume attended the memorial mass of Barbara Olson this morning. He reported later, on Fox News, that he was particularly touched by the homily given by her parish priest.
The priest, whose name I don't recall, spoke about evil being some'one,' not some'thing.' Mr. Hume seemed to be very touched by this and even discussed, in a thoughtful manner, the existence of evil as a reality with a name- 'Satan.'
I have seen Mr. Hume discussing this twice. This is the first time I recall any major media discussing the existence of Satan as a real possibility, or probability. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I thought it was a very interesting segment. His panel looked very uncomfortable with the topic.

Yep, I noticed. And Fred Barnes has no problem (neither does Mort Kondrake for that matter) talking about God and Satan as well. Kind of refreshing.
You know what else was refreshing? Seeing the American flag pinned on Brit's suit jacket, and seeing a large flag on one of the desks behind his anchor chair. Think you'd ever see anything like that with Dan Rather and CBS news?

I saw it too. WOW!

Fred is a strong Christian and servant in his own church in VA.

I didn't really notice them being uncomfortable, probably because I was in mild, but pleasant, shock trying to comprehend what I was witnessing.
They are also not used to discussing Satan seriously on a major news network.

It's the little things that make Fox gain on the other networks.
Little things like the truth.

Fred Barnes was also at the service. Ditto Chris Matthews.
Rush could not get on a flight yesterday, but he sent a truly wonderful note to Ted Olson, which was read last night at a celebration of Barbara at their home.

It was a great segment. Fox News is truly a Godsend, save for when Fox Magazine is on.

The patriotism is great.
One reason I am glad to see this traditional discussion of Satan as evil embodied is because his best and most diabolical (couldn't resist the pun) trick of the 20th century was to convince so many people that he didn't exist.
Also, when Satan's identity is revealed, he loses power and control over people.

I didn't see this today, but I noticed yesterday that Brit Hume was finding comfort in relaying the words of some of the old hymns sung during the prelude of the memorial service in the National Cathedral. To him, it was his duty as a reporter to get the truth of those beloved words out to Fox viewers and I appreciate it so much. I watched the service live and then again in the early morning hours replayed on Fox - and the reporters there are not ashamed to show that they are part of this movement toward God in America. Bless them.

Americans of faith are being compelled, I think, by the Spirit within them, to speak out truth -- unapologetically, clearly, forcefully -- in the wake of this incarnation of evil. It is evidence of God moving in a strong way upon America this week.

What a wonderful priest the Olsens had. He got it right and I applauded him. No political correct new age feel goodisms here. Truth -- God, how it terrifies the heart of the unbeliver.

Absolutely correct. CS Lewis discusses this at length in The Screwtape Letters (you probably already knew that).
