Bush not asking for Declaration of War
President George W. Bush

Posted on 09/12/2001 8:04:51 AM PDT by Heisenburger

We all just saw Bush on TV talking about investigating this tragedy and generally pussy-footing around the issue. What Bush is forgetting is that we are sure of who has done this, and there is no reason anymore for investigations. If Bush will not ask Congress for a Declaration of War against Afghanistan, I say Congress should force his hand by passing such a declaration immediately.

If and when we determine the perps we should immediately declare war. If we don't, Bush might as well resign for all we need him.

CNN just reported that Bush is in negotiations with Congressional leaders to ask them to pass a "Resolution of Resolve" (literal quote). What the hell that is is anyone's guess. CNN reported just said this within the last twenty minutes.

I agree that the adults are finally home, however I felt a bit disappointed in W's statements today when he was outside at the Pentagon. Too many ummmms and pauses. By the time he was actually on site, he'd had enough time to put together a couple of strong statement to throw down as he conducted his tour. Don't misunderstand, I DO NOT WANT OR NEED an emotional response, ala the adam henry from arkansas. I did want one an articulate one issued from the carnage by my President. And for the record, I am GLAD Powell wasn't mushy in his statements today. We need non-emotional and reasoned press conferences.

Drivel, pure waste of bandwidth drivel.

Get behind him, now, or get the hell out of his way. I swear to God, what is it going to take to galvanize this nation as one. If this doesn't, we are doomed.

I respectfully disagree. He should have immeduately asked congress for a declaration of war!!!! We don't need an investigation!!!! He should have given the sanctuary countries 48 hours to turn these slime over or their cities would be bombed.

In my opinion, he sounded robotic, stiff and uninspired. He seemed as though he was reading a script prepared by some lackeys. He had a goofy, dazed and confused look.

Your statements just reveal that you have no comprehension of who you have as president. Who cares if you or anyone thinks he looked goofy, dazed, confused? Maybe one of these days you will start looking at what a man is instead of how he handles the camera. This is not Hollywood - this is life.

In case you are interested - here is how I see him. I see a man furious, I see a man who tears up when he talks about the children who don't have parents coming home, I see a man that is a good man - a very strong man - a man who will not tolerate this happening to his family, or his country. You haven't seen anything yet.

Bush does not care about the frivilous impresssion he might make, he does not care whether you think he is stiff or not. What he cares about is this country, in finding out who did this, in stamping out terrorism in this country.

If you can't look into his eyes and see the man there - if you don't realize that this is a man that looks at all sides of an issue and then takes effective action, if you don't see a man that has a great ability to use patience to get the best result - you, sir, have not been watching your president.

I suggest you hold on - we are in for a president going to war against terrorism - not with frivilous shows of warfare, not with photo-takes, not with grandstanding - but with strong, effective action. You will be surprised because this man is not limited by his worries of what you think, this man is solving this problem and will solve it.

Do you realize how long it takes to get the military ready to go? I worked at Loring AFB, Maine during the deployment of Desert Storm. "I" KNOW! They can't just pick up and leave overNIGHT. Do you know how long it takes to get the ships over there? Do you know how long it takes to cut orders for the hundreds and hundreds of military that are standing in line ready to go? Shots? Wills? Paperwork? Give me a break. President Bush knows what he is doing! There is a LOT going on behind the scenes right now. Quit being a doubting Thomas!!

Here it is guys; DeclarationofWar.org.

It should propogate by midnight tonight, then you will be able to go to it and sign a pledge supporting a Declaration of War. Basically you are personally declaring war on terrorists, those who support them and the states that harbor them.

Check for it in the morning.

"Bush not asking for Declaration of War"

No, but he outlawed scissors and unloading luggage at curbside airport parking. Our congressman is voting "Yes" on HR62, the "Declaration of War." In my opinion, no declaration... no war.

The FAA are the ones to outlaw plastic knives. And, do you realize if the US "declares" war, in actual words, that the insurance companies will not pay if a person is injured or killed in the war? Think about it. The US didn't "declare war" with Desert Storm, but we still went, nonetheless.
