I can roughly quote William Cohen from his live interview on CNN within the last 10 minutes: "We are going to have to make some tough decisions in this country. We are going to have to "garbled" when making choices between security and civil liberties."

Do they support terrorism? IMO they spread a lot of money around to the wrong people.

You mean these children cheering the deaths of 50,000 Americans?
I say yes, before they grow into the next wave, they are already lost.

Think about this: If it were not illegal to carry a gun on a plane, this might never have happened. A terrorist with a knife tries to hijack a plane, and the next sound he hears is the hammers being cocked on several handguns...think he'd be hijacking a plane then? Doubtful. The bleeding heart Liberals that want to disarm us all to "protect" us have just witnessed the best reason for citizens to pack heat. Oh, but they think guns kill people! Really? So do commercial jets...what should we do? Outlaw commercial jets too? And then this moron hints that our civil liberties should be curtailed, "for our protection"...What a crock! We need MORE, not less civil liberties.

I liked what Newt said as well...no bullshit.
But if I had a little unit that I could wear on my wrist telling me that someone was about to punch me, because maybe his adrenaline was off the charts or something shows up in his thoughts, I'd prtect myself, even if it cost 300 billion.

No politician who announces such a thing as "giving up some of our civil liberties" should be allowed to hold office, because s/he is a traitor to this countryAgreed. The surest solution is a dirt nap.

I think the point, which you apparently missed, is that SOME RADICAL FOLLOWERS OF ALL RELIGIONS do abominable things, while 99.44% of the real followers don't. Your statement that Christians don't indicates that either you haven't got a clue as to the dealings of Christians down through time, or don't care. Either one is idiotic and vaguely disgusting.

Years ago in the USMC we used to say, "Nuke 'em All and let God sort 'em out.I still have a photo from graduation day at PI showing our platoon's flag designed by some of the privates:
"We nuked 'em in Japan, we can nuke 'em in Iran." (This was in early 1980 during the Iranian "hostage crisis".)

So, those children in that war-torn country cheering something I doubt that they truly understand are an eminent threat to you? Did you think that I hadn't seen that film? Did you think I hadn't seen film of other atrocities, many committed against children just like them, in that country and others, for the last 50+ years?
Why don't we just do that, and teach them that they're right to hate us, that we are the monsters they've been taught that we are? I'm sure you're right. I wonder how the, "Well, I had to kill that baby, yer honner, cuz he wuz maybe gonna grow up and shoot me someday." defense would work here.
Again, I have no sympathy for the enemy. I am perfectly willing and able to pull the trigger myself. If we discover that s.o.b. is being harbored anywhere, I vote that we turn that country into a flat sheet of glass. BUT we MUST be sure we punish the guilty, and not the innocent, and not anyone else just because they're brown and we don't like their politics.

"I'm not sure who our enemies are. People need to cool down. If we react too quickly, and attack people who turn out not to be connected with the events today, we're going to have lots of problems in the future."
Bravo Sierra - We need to attack ALL terrorists. We simply cannot encourage this behavior. Burn 'em to the ground. (All of them)

Don't forget the gutting of our intelligence apparatus by a "well meaning" but stupid Carter Administration.... not recovered from that yet....
....with the proper safeguards (not to be used on U.S. citizens).

William Cohen? Who the hell is William Cohen? Just some has-been, idiotic, boob from a former administration whose only accomplishment was to screw the US military. To hell with him. I'm not interested in his opinion on anything. My sentiments exactly!

>>We are going to have to "garbled" when making choices between security and civil liberties." <<
Yup,Cohen is nothing but a statist shill, and this is his natural inclination. You are going to hear more of this as time passes, too. Peter Jennings was on tv tonight praising K-Mart for "voluntarily deciding to not sell guns or ammunition anymore",just like US citizens with guns had something to do with what happened today. Besides,K-Mart announced they were going to do this a couple of months ago,and Jennings KNOWS this.

>>Well, consider this: When I was growning up, you could get on a plane as a passenger without having luggage or your personal things checked ... But today, would you even get on a plane that did not check? We DO give up some freedoms for security.<<
I remember flying from Okinawa to San Francisco in 1967 aboard a civilian airliner with a loaded German Luger, and "Yes,I declared it for customs".
To: cgbg
While many may laugh at this post it wouldn't surprise me if years from now this is regarded as conventional wisdom. I'm not laughing. You are exhibiting sound strategic thinking.

>>This calls for a massive nuclear strike on one or more nations who have sponsored, aided, abetted, assisted, or harbored these motherf@%kers.<<
Yeah,BOY! Let's show them that WE can murder more innocent civilians than THEY can! YEE,HAW! (sarcasm)
You wanna stop this crap? The RIGHT way to do it is to train ,equip, and support some hard young men who are willing to land on the enemies land, and then take their leadership and hang them in public. Unfortunately,we don't have ground forces capable of doing this any more. Too many affirmative-action promotions putting people into command positions when they should have been thrown out of the army. If we were to land ground forces in Afghanistan now, they would have their asses handed to them.

>>Is it "scary" to have your luggage searched at the airport? Is it "scary" to have some safety precautions in place?<<
OK,so why don't you remind us all of all the terrorists these "security measures" have stopped, and all the arrests and trials that have happened as a result of these arrests? Oddly enough,I can't remember reading a news report about a SINGLE one!
To: sneakypete
Let's get this straight. You're on record as airport security being an infringement of our civil liberties? Is that correct?
And if they do not find actual criminals, we should stop them immediately, correct?
To: DuncanWaring
>>How many thousands would be alive now had there been anyone on any of those three airplanes capable of offering a competent resistance?<<
One thing I can tell you for certain is that if a terrorist had tried to hijack the 727 I had the loaded Luger on,he would have been in what they call today a "high risk group".
To: Southack
"I agree. Our response and subsequent multiple retaliations need to be so severe that thousands of years from now the decendents of our enemies still pray on their knees that America never gets mad again." Amen to that!
To: the808bass
>>Let's get this straight. You're on record as airport security being an infringement of our civil liberties? Is that correct? <<
No. The airlines have the right to do any kind of damn-fool thing they want to do. They are private businesses. Then again,I can't see how any of this crap has done any good, and neither can you. If you could, you would be telling me about al the arrests of terrorists made thanks to these new security methods.
