William Cohen just spoke on CNN via telephone and said some scary things

I can roughly quote William Cohen from his live interview on CNN within the last 10 minutes: "We are going to have to make some tough decisions in this country. We are going to have to "garbled" when making choices between security and civil liberties."

"Who has the most to gain from this?"

Very stupid question. The people who die in self-inflicted explosions have in recent history been of one type. Care to guess what headgear they wear?

Sorry William. That's not the "tough choice". The choice is whether to nuke Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, and
Libya off the face of the planet to ensure that this never happens again. We say, "You kill 10,000 of ours. We incinerate 10,000,000 of yours." Sorry if this sounds like a "war-monger" but we need to have an overwhelming response.

100% !!!  Don't forget Jordan!

Make Israel a Tiny Green Island in a "Great Sea of Black Glass!"

From East Africa to Afghanistan!  If Indonesia says anything,
take them out too!

Muslims are taught to spread their religion by the sword.
They are taught that they receive the greater reward in
their Heaven if they MURDER non-believers.   Jewish
people are known through time and around the world
for being just the opposite.  Jews have themselves been
persecuted and murdered by far more than Nazis or
Soviets through time.  Christians are the spiritual
descendants of Judaism.   Jihad and Intifada is murder
with a religious excuse.   Islam is a cancer in the body
of mankind.

That is why we need the neutron bomb. Air burst, crispy critters, no fallout, minimal blast damage.

45Auto: William Cohen? Who the hell is William Cohen? Just some has-been, idiotic, boob from a former administration whose only accomplishment was to screw the US military. To hell with him. I'm not interested in his opinion on anything.
You might want to withhold judgement about Cohen until you see the Potomac two step that Bush's people are going to do with military. Even conservatives are shaking their heads over the charade that they played during the campaign versus what is being discussed right now. Instead of putting the serviceman first and rewarding them right off while there was still money in the pot, the tax cut came first and then plans for missile shield hardware. They talk the talk of cutting waste but we all know that the line soldier will suffer before Trent Lott gives up his systems that the Pentagon insists it doesn't need. At least Clinton and Cohen didn't promise pie in the sky for the military. I'll be interested in hearing your moans in six months when you see what plays out as they squeeze the serviceman to the bone in order to preserve hardware deals for campaign contributors. The screwing you talk about is a kiss compared to the about face this crew is about to do.

There are two ways to go. We do little except try and catch specific individuals involved and make the US a police state to stop future acts.

Or we completely re-organize our national defense, security and international relations.

A voice of reason in a sea of misplaced hostile rhetoric.

Pat was (is) right, you know. American foreign policy as practiced in the last 100 years has little to do with what the founders intended. Mr. Washington warned us about foreign entanglements.

Hegemony leads to hatred... and we are surely hated by must of the rest of the world.

While I hate with all of my red-blooded patriotic veteran heart what has happened, and I make no excuse for those who did this.....

.....We are fools if we do not as a people demand that our government stop trying to run the entire world...

Or we'll have more.... nukin' 'em won't help... It'll only make it worse....

I just counted... there's a lot more of them than there is of us.

I just can not imagine the US & Israeli not having some kind of intelligence reports on this. It is just too big an operation for some one in the "Intelligence Family" not to have know something BIG was in the works....

But then maybe I am expecting too much from my government which is suppose to serve and protect!

Even if it was known, what you want done?

The only way to stop this is kill the ba$tards
when they do it.  They won't do it again.

Cohen is a mild mannered pencil pushing puke. Military and ex-military in this country do not use the word fear, do not use an attack on civilians by global punks to destroy the freedoms all our friends and family at one point in life fought for.
Our country has been split down the middle, politically , since x42's 2nd term. Hopefully this massive loss of life celebrated in the streets today by palistinians will again bring our nation under one flag and resolve for one purpose. Even scraming face green house liberals understand mass extermination.

This attack proves we have not acted with enough hegemony.

We need more, now.

"The great majority of Quran-quoting Muslims aren't any more radical than the great majority of Bible-quoting Christians."

Ya right (sarcasm). Christians don't just kill people indiscriminately for the fun of it. Christians don't promise suicide bombers 500 virgins in the after-life

Hey libertarian...tell us how a libvertarian would solve the problem...

WOuld a libertarian tighten the borders? Tighten security? Or just bitch and complain...

C'mon, give us some of your profound answers. Are libertarians becoming self-destructive??? This is reality...

I believe you have a distorted view of Libertarians.
We don't believe in initial use of force.  We do believe
in responding to someone else's initial use of force
and holding them responsible for their actions.

Nuke-um swiftly with much prejudice!

There is another approach (that dosen't preclude massive retaliation--which I favor, btw).

The country's major entities (federal, state, local government, big corporations, etc.) needs to think carefully about the way our institutions are physically configured. In the age of the Internet do people really need to be working in huge urban centers in skyscrapers?

Do they need to be crowded by the thousands into mass transit systems?

While a "decentralization" of our institutions would not prevent a terrorist attack it would prevent the kind of huge disaster which happened today. I fear the "big city" approach in a world where total eliminiation of terrorist threats is impossible is just asking for future debacles.

While many may laugh at this post it wouldn't surprise me if years from now this is regarded as conventional wisdom.

Based on that I don't think we should take it for granted that there is no involvement in this by ceartin "conspiritorial" groups of high placed individuals. They will stop at nothing to erode our libertys and our rights.

"We can all thank the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, William Kuntsler, et.al for defanging all of the intelligence agencies, both military and law enforcement."

We have the Clintons to thank as well for dismantling U.S. security and intelligence and weakening and politicizing the military for eight years. Wonder if the sheeple will understand this, at all?

I am probably the most liberal Democrat you will ever meet.

I agree 100%. They kill 10,000, we incinerate 10,000,000.

These bastards have to be taught a lesson, and I mean NOW.

How can you *prevent* the initial horrific use of force? Twiddle thumbs? C'mon...
