My daughters are attempting to organize groups of students on their respective college campuses. Students, please take this as a challenge to do the same.

Someone on another thread advised against just walking in -- the center you pick may be overloaded. Call to find a location where you can be accommodated.
To find out whether you can donate blood, or to find the nearest donor center, call
1-800-GIVE-LIFE
(1-800-448-3543)
Or click on Give Blood.
I have a standing appointment to give platelets every four weeks, and my next scheduled donation is Saturday. If I can spend 100 minutes hooked up to a machine, any of you can spend 15 minutes on a table.

We are hearing reports via Fox News and so forth that NYC emergency personnel are urging people across the country to give blood over the next 24 - 48 hours. When flights resume (assuming emergency flights will get priority), blood can be flown in to help the overwhelmed trauma centers. Please consider giving blood if you are able to do so.

IMPORTANT!!
To: Mr_Magoo
Massive numbers of burn injuries are reported, hospitals overcrowded. I seem to recall that blood is pretty important to burn victims. Local reserves probably won't be enough. They'll be draining area bloodbanks and drawing blood and blood products from around the country. I also expect that they'll evacuate many of the burn victims to other hospitals in New York and New Jersey to relieve the crowding in the nearby hospitals.
This is probably a time to give blood to help your fellow-citizens. Even if they do vote Democrat consistently.
To: PLEASE POST CONTACT INFO FOR YOUR LOCAL BLOOD CTR. HERE!
Please post local blood collection agency contact information here, esp. if you are near a major metropolitan area. People are urged to call first, if possible. It'll be highly unlikely walk-ins, though, will be turned away as this crisis unfolds.

Well, I had to chuckle at that one. Who knows? Maybe a good strong "shot" of conservative blood will help them come to their senses!

An opportunity for conservative America to show some compassion for those who have no mercy for the unborn.
Truly, A challenge to try even the most Christian heart.
The local news has gone beyond silliness. We were just assured that a local farm
machinery trade show is on heightened security alert against terrorist attack.

I have already been in contact with our local chapter of United Way and they are setting up for Thursday. You can bet I will be the first in line.

I have already been in contact with our local chapter of United Way and they are setting up for Thursday. You can bet I will be the first in line. Given the death toll, I think the actual numbers of survivors needing blood won't be all that high relative to those killed. They will mostly be people who were in the street or in adjoining buildings.
I think that blood may be needed more for the burn victims in 3-7 days than it is immediately. 1200 people donated at one blood center alone this afternoon. They still need some of the rarer O and A blood types, ABC said. If you carry any of the rarer types of blood, you (any of you) may want to call your local blood center. Maybe we should keep an eye on the Red Cross site to see if they're calling for any of the rare types of blood.
