I have already been in contact with our local chapter of United Way and they are setting up for Thursday. You can bet I will be the first in line. Given the death toll, I think the actual numbers of survivors needing blood won't be all that high relative to those killed. They will mostly be people who were in the street or in adjoining buildings.

I think that blood may be needed more for the burn victims in 3-7 days than it is immediately. 1200 people donated at one blood center alone this afternoon. They still need some of the rarer O and A blood types, ABC said. If you carry any of the rarer types of blood, you (any of you) may want to call your local blood center. Maybe we should keep an eye on the Red Cross site to see if they're calling for any of the rare types of blood.
