My apologies to the innocent victims of today's cowardly attack on our free republic, but I believe there are some questions we need to be asking ourselves right now---
When the smoke clears, and retribution is exacted, will the United States of America ever be the same?
Or will this be the perfect cover for those who would destroy what remains of our personal freedom as Americans?
Out of of fear, will the sheeple cry for even more restraints on our liberty than have already been exacted, and welcome tyranny with open arms?
I believe these are all very important questions to begin to consider on this Black Tuesday.
I hope and pray that in the days ahead, Free Republic will be a center of opposition to that move against the Bill of Rights which is almost surely to come.
Some people took offense by that. I began to regret my choice of words. Was even considering offering up an apology.
No apology necessary now. You're worse than "suck donkey's balls to no end."
Go lick the [censored] off a dog's [censored].

Nope he said he was a Fedral LEO and Yep....I'm sure he as a pair of Jackboots
Thousands of people died to give it to me, and I would never dishonor their sacrifice, and their memory by pissing it away to the likes of you.

All through our history people have died because they wanted to be free. They were called patriots. And they fought in every war to defend it.
If you are a marine, you should hang your head in shame.
Earth to Smithee. Look at your television. It's already occurred. All flights in America have been suspended. All borders have been closed. All roads to Manhattan have been closed.
If it doesn't "serve" them, then why are they doing it? Good going. Lambaste anyone who thinks this is a bad idea and actually has the presence of mind to notice it happening right before their very eyes
Are you blind or just stupid?
Why don't you try defending your original post (where you intimated that this is OUR fault) rather than pulling a bait and switch when you realize how stupid it sounds...
I'm sure that WWII was the fault of those who drew up the Versailles treaty.
I guess Hitler had nothing to do with it. Tell me, do you never hold people responsible for their actions? Or do you only not hold people responsible when it suits?
Of course they are. That does not mean they have no concerns about the people this directly effected, though. It is not only natural for something like what happened today to make you take stock in what may lie ahead, it is imperative to do so in order to counter any problems that may come down the pike. That is not cold or callous. That is common sense.
Right now I'm hearing that people trapped alive in the rubble are calling relatives on their cellphones. Now THAT'S a damned restriction of their liberty, wouldn't you say? Aren't they the most important 'casualties' at the moment?
After a very hectic and disturbing morning and a 12 hour shift at work, I am finally home with my family.
I have gone back and reread this thread and have come to the conclusion that an apology is necessary.
My original post was this: "Thousands of people have just died, because you wanted a little liberty."
That was a poorly written, and I send my apologies, but I believed, and still do, that this was the last thing we need to worry about this morning. The death toll will be in the thousands, and the last thing, we as a Nation, need to be arguing about is, what liberties or freedoms may be temporally be suspended while the clean up and investigation go on.
This nation is the strong, and will survive this.
Aerial said "Thousands of people have died to maintain our liberty."
Those innocent victims did no die for our liberty. If this had been a strike against our Military, then yes, that statement would be true, but these were innocent civilians at work, or just enjoying themselves. They had no idea what would happen today. In the Military, you are expected to lay down your life in the defense of this country, but not as a civilian.
cc2k said "I'd much rather be on a flight where many of the passengers are armed, than on a flight where one armed hijacker could take over and re-route the plane."
If everyone was armed on these flights, we would still have 226 dead people. A single bullet can bring down a airliner, image the OK corral inside a 767. And with air rage, as popular as it is today, there would be allot more airliners going down.
Rifleman said "So, you would give the terrs the greatest victory that they could hope to acheive, ie, the distruction of American liberty?
I neither said that or implied that. What I was trying to get at, which I did poorly, was that many of the posters on this forum seemed to be more worried about the temporary, and I stress temporary, tightening of security in the US, than the thousand of dead and wounded, and that sickens me.
Your second statement, "we should hunt down the guilty, kill them, kill their funding sources and make their mamas cry. We should not turn ourselves into a police state", I completely agree with.
A Ruckus of Dogs said "Fine, you fool. Let's turn this into a police state. National curfews. National IDs. A national DNA database. Requiring permission from government before you travel. If people subject themselves to this in order to get a little more security, then the terrorists will truly have won."I never mentioned any of the things you stated in you post, but I hear the Democrats are looking for a few good spin doctors, and you seem very good at twisting someone statement around. Maybe you should apply.
The Shootist said "Liberty is what these people died for. Think!"Liberty is not what these people died for. Think! These people died for no reason, other than to make you nervous about walking the streets. The convenience store owner does not die for liberty, when a robber shots him for a pack of smokes. Think!
wacher1 said "I can't believe you even think that. You are a JBT arn't you. You should be happy about all this. I'm sure you'll be a very busy and happy man as you help transform American from a Free Republic to a gulag police state. BTW What's wrong with finding out who did this and punishing THEM? Shreading the Constitution won't bring the dead back to life."
I don't recall saying that we should shred the Constitution. Maybe you should join A Ruckus of Dogs, and be a spin doctor for the Dems. And yes I am a Federal Law Enforcement Officer, and I'm sure your throwing a big party right now, knowing that over 200 Law Enforcement Officers have died today. You should head over to Palestine and join their celebration.
athiestwithagun said "Nah! More likely he is a DNC Seminar poster. Signed up on 9/3/2001. Just in time for this..."
Yep, I had proir knowledge of this event and signed up so I could be posting on this day, GET A LIFE.
I could go on but it has been a long day for everyone.
For my first posting, I do appologiez. It was written in anger and writen poorly.
Okay, you opened your big mouth. Which of your liberties are you willing to surrender for a little bit of perceived safety?
From some of your posts on other threads, I was willing to believe that maybe we agreed in principle about a few things, but were quibbling about some definitions. Now I believe that you are the JBT you sound like here. In fact, don't even answer my question. It'll probably be some more of the same swill that you have been spewing.
