My apologies to the innocent victims of today's cowardly attack on our free republic, but I believe there are some questions we need to be asking ourselves right now---
When the smoke clears, and retribution is exacted, will the United States of America ever be the same?
Or will this be the perfect cover for those who would destroy what remains of our personal freedom as Americans?
Out of of fear, will the sheeple cry for even more restraints on our liberty than have already been exacted, and welcome tyranny with open arms?
I believe these are all very important questions to begin to consider on this Black Tuesday.
I hope and pray that in the days ahead, Free Republic will be a center of opposition to that move against the Bill of Rights which is almost surely to come.
I posted an article from the Drudge site entitled "Arafat Horrified by Attacks" not too long ago. Nothing out of the ordinary about the article that I could see...and with folks wondering who might have done it...I merely posted the article for information purposes. The article was removed from this site as far as I can tell....though I don't know why.

Wonder what's up with that?
For the dead we can do nothing. For the wounded we can send aid. For the nation to keep strong, derives from that very liberty you so flippantly betray. You are a danger. The Founders specifically warned us about your ilk. Without a free nation, you become a fascist thug whose ends justify any means.
Nah! More likely he is a DNC Seminar poster. Signed up on 9/3/2001. Just in time for this...
In other words, you'd gladly give up liberty as long as thousands of people are saved?
I totally misunderstood your point. I apologize for almost jumping down your throat.
Your post is quite appopriate. This is a time for vigilance, EternalVigilance. Fight the good fight.
Tom Brokow on NBC just a few minutes ago..."we'll have to revisit the freedoms we have".
Revisit them in a museum, perhaps.
Remember how Clinton and the left tried to use the OKC bombing as an excuse to smear talk radio, Rush Limbaugh, conservatives, and "anti-government" types in general? They blamed us for the bombing. Now some here on this site are blaming anyone who does not like our foreign policy vis-a-vis Israel and the Middle East for this latest tragedy. Now may not be the time for people to realize this, but horrible as it is, todays events were inevitable. We have been bombing and killing civilians with impunity for almost 60 years, and today we received back a very tiny portion of what we have been dishing out to others. This in no way excuses the crimes that occurred today, it is a simple observation of fact: as ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Instead of drawing the proper conclusions, however, and restoring our long dead traditions of neutrality advocated by our Founding Fathers, we will continue on our way towards Imperial overstretch and eventual collapse. Instead of restoring Constitutional liberties, we will continue on our long slow slide towards a police state.
But we hesitate to say this for fear of being blamed as somehow sympathizing with the monsters who have today murdered so many of our fellow citizens. We don't sympathize with the murderers, we sympathize with our poor deluded fellow citizens, who, hopefully, will not have to pay with any more lives for the inevitable repercussions of our ruling elite's obsessive imperial politics.
Please, before you call someone who disagrees with you a sympathizer with terrorists and murderers, think about what you are saying. We can surely disagree with each other about politics without descending into the gutter.
They at the veryleast deserve to be returned home (if they actually live in the state they represent--ha) in disgrace, with the people's full recognition that they have lost any semblance of the right to lead.
Sorry, but I simply don't understand or condone that remark. You are way, way out of line here. Eternal Vigilance didn't slaughter all of those people, the murdering terrorists did. Its been an emotional day, but remarks like that one are out of place here.
Be a man and apologize.
"If we do not hang together, we will surely all hang separately."
September 11 is a day that will truly live in infamy.
There is a certain JBT on this thread that is advocating the revocation of our rights. May he meet up with what he advocates.
These terrorists are probably not finished. Our loss of liberties will NOT make them go away or change their minds.
