Will the Worst Casualty be Liberty?
self | September 11, 2001 (A day that will live in infamy) | Eternal Vigilance

Posted on 09/11/2001 8:25:14 AM PDT by EternalVigilance

My apologies to the innocent victims of today's cowardly attack on our free republic, but I believe there are some questions we need to be asking ourselves right now---

When the smoke clears, and retribution is exacted, will the United States of America ever be the same?

Or will this be the perfect cover for those who would destroy what remains of our personal freedom as Americans?

Out of of fear, will the sheeple cry for even more restraints on our liberty than have already been exacted, and welcome tyranny with open arms?

I believe these are all very important questions to begin to consider on this Black Tuesday.

I hope and pray that in the days ahead, Free Republic will be a center of opposition to that move against the Bill of Rights which is almost surely to come.

Thousands dead, thousands suffering, yet your focus is on possible imagined losses of freedom. You couldn't even wait a goddamn day to get the agenda machine in full gear.

Well, I just got the call.

I have to go shine my Jack boots and strap on the gun and badge and goto work.

While I'm at work, I sure hope none of you have your little librties impeded, and just before I die, I'll think of you.

NOT.

Good Day, and God bless you.

P.S. and regardless of what I think of some of you, STAY SAFE AND FIND SOME WAY TO HELP THE VICTIMS.

Clinton used the OKC bombing to push thru his anti-terrorism bill.

That was certainly effective. but Clinton was most effective in screwing this country up.

Think with the big head, not the little one.

There's always room for cheap shots, huh?

A lot of Americans have just died.

I don't know who 'did the crime'.

When they are uncovered...they will pay.

But...I do agree with you that we must be on guard.

Because there ARE those in politics who wish to limit our Freedoms.

And who will use this as an excuse to do so.

Rivero checks in at 9am to suggest that this is an American Reichstag?

Pssst. You might have still won. He did it earlier on another thread. :^) Same post.

>>>>It is statists like you and slick Willie Klinton who have planted the seeds of this evil tragedy (think attack on the pharmaceuticals plant in the Sudan done just to distract the American press from his BJ in the oval office) <<<<<<

It is MUCH worse. U.S. supported Mujahedeens in Afganistan, Bosnia, Chechnia, Taliban, KLA (Kosovo fraction), KLA (Macedonia fraction), all under theory of "humanitarian intervention" masterminded by Morton Abramowitz, Holbrooke and Maddie Albright . It started BEFORE Clitoon entered WH and continued to the present day !

US disregarded advice of Putin, Israel, bombed Serbs to the stone age and all that time radical islamic terrorists worked glove in hand with U.S. special forces
They observed, learned American weaknesses and prepared tactics.

Vintage Sun Tsu.

Osama Bin Laden own borother is in charge ofUS-bankrolled KLA commando units. Can anyone seriously believe U.S. can not get Bin Laden if wants to?

Now, when chicken came to roost, there will be MANY people in 3 administrations and military who will try to cover ther tracks.
Stupidity will lead to treason and treason will lead to suspension of liberties.

PRAY FOR THE DEAD, PRAY FOR AMERICAN REPUBLIC AND FIGHT BACK!

"Is the term "Freeple" already in use? I want to claim it for FR posters who knee-jerk back any govt action."

Are the terms "a$$hole" and "traitor" already in use? I want to claim it for FR posters who knee-jerk attack any government action.

My apologies to the innocent victims of today's cowardly attack

Excuse me. I don't mean to be rude and I am sure your intentions are honorable; but, what in the hell are you apologizing for???!!!!

Let's express our sorrow for the the death of innocent victims and their families. But you have nothing, NOTHING to apologize for, right?

As soon as we saw this terrible thing on TV this morning, I told my wife that one of the things that is a threat to the Nation is that there will be Nationwide martial law declared. That includes coming after everyone's firarms, limits on personal travel, etc.

Dear God, I pray that I'm wrong.

DURING WAR LIBERTIES HAVE BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE RESTRICTED!

We must distinguish between civil liberties once any national plan once war is declared (and it will be), and civil liberties normalizing after that war is in effect, and then the full restoration of civil liberties once the war is ended.

Our president must be the commander-in-chief during the war effort. He must make responsible security decisions for the nation. He must NOT reveal any movement of troops and any counter-attacks against the enemy.

To the extent that secrecy is necessary for these acts, our civil liberties, will, and of a right ought to be, curtailed.

ABC news should NOT be allowed to report on US troop movements.

I hope and pray that I'm wrong, but I fear not. G-d save our Republic.

You cannot have an Empire and a Republic at the same time. Reduce the power of the central government, cut the military budget, reduce the number of military and bases in the foreign countries.

Buchanan was right.

Agreed. Right now is a time of diligence.

You're far too optimistic. This is just what the statists were waiting for. The Fourth Amendment was gutted after OKC. The First and Second Amendments are under attack right now. This will be used to pass laws that previous generations would never have stood for.

Hillary and Schumer are probably salivating over this.

Notwithstanding the withering fire I have taken from a few for posting this thread, and for it's timing, I think the responses so far demonstrate vividly that my questions are justified.

Even if our political capitol was torched to the ground---or our financial capitol---

Even if the original copy of the Declaration and the Constituion were incinerated---

It is the PRINCIPLES that underlie our Republic that matter---and the committment of the American people to upholding them that counts. If we as a people stay true to those principles, no enemy can destroy us. If we don't, we will inevitably destroy ourselves.

I can understand to a great extent that some, especially the closer they are to the scene of one of the worst crimes committed in history, to not feel that this subject is timely. To them, I say that this is the way it is in life...those further removed from the tragedy are charged with sending help, and praying, and doing what they can to prevent the calamity from spreading.

Nothing could assure that the terrorists win, except for us to abandon our principles in the face of their evil acts.

I'm not overly concerned about what you think of me anyway. You are not the one I'll stand before under judgement.

The fact that you are perceptive enough to ask the question - "will the worst casualty be liberty?" - means that you are perceptive enough to know the answer already.

I was apologizing for the title, because I feared that it might, in some minds, be taken as a minimizing of the loss so many are experiencing today, when that is not my intent at all. I have been praying for all of them diligently all day.

But believe me, hundreds of millions of people will suffer horrendously all over this globe, if the lamp of liberty is snuffed out by those who love security, safety and comfort more than they love freedom.
