Will the Worst Casualty be Liberty?
self | September 11, 2001 (A day that will live in infamy) | Eternal Vigilance

Posted on 09/11/2001 8:25:14 AM PDT by EternalVigilance

My apologies to the innocent victims of today's cowardly attack on our free republic, but I believe there are some questions we need to be asking ourselves right now---

When the smoke clears, and retribution is exacted, will the United States of America ever be the same?

Or will this be the perfect cover for those who would destroy what remains of our personal freedom as Americans?

Out of of fear, will the sheeple cry for even more restraints on our liberty than have already been exacted, and welcome tyranny with open arms?

I believe these are all very important questions to begin to consider on this Black Tuesday.

I hope and pray that in the days ahead, Free Republic will be a center of opposition to that move against the Bill of Rights which is almost surely to come.

Return to an American First foreign policy; George Washington: The duty and interest of the United States, requires they should with sincerity and good faith adopt and pursue a conduct friendly and impartial to the belligerent powers. We have time to escape this "hellhole" but not much!

All I said was that today is for worrying about and praying for the dead and injured. After today, or the next few days, is another story

Are the terms "a$$hole" and "traitor" already in use? I want to claim it for FR posters who knee-jerk attack any government action.

Name one specific govt response to this I've attacked. I'm just keeping my eyes open.

To: Anyone...
I'm wondering what is going on with FR.

I posted an article from the Drudge site entitled "Arafat Horrified by Attacks" not too long ago. Nothing out of the ordinary about the article that I could see...and with folks wondering who might have done it...I merely posted the article for information purposes. The article was removed from this site as far as I can tell....though I don't know why.

Article HERE

Wonder what's up with that?

I find it fascinating that you really believe that it is you, as a member of a standing military, who protects us and keeps us free rather than the other way around. This probably makes you happy. Time to show what a stud you are by "Kicking Ass." How many innocents will it take to satisfy such blood lust? I shudder with people like you in the military.

For the dead we can do nothing. For the wounded we can send aid. For the nation to keep strong, derives from that very liberty you so flippantly betray. You are a danger. The Founders specifically warned us about your ilk. Without a free nation, you become a fascist thug whose ends justify any means.

Re Marine Inspector - I seem to remember from a different thread that he said he was a cop, not a member of the military - for what it's worth

Gun-grabbers and the NWO croud are probably already laying plans to exploit the tradegy. Look for the boob-tube addicted, "nuke 'em all" folks to cheer them on.

Patriots in Action, heads up! The goof balls and disruptors such as marine inspector are part of the problem! I hope my actions and anyone associated with me at K-Falls are interpeted as nothing less than PATRIOTIC. We are the kind of people that the US needs! Freedom is not free! We have to hunt down the problem and 'nuetralize'it. I support every effort the US takes in moving against the enemy and not against our personal freedoms. All America regardless of color, race, sex, political idealogy, etc. we need to stand together against this cowardly enemy and win!

Do all the calls to "stand together" mean that we cannot criticize Democrats (Clinton specifically) for military cuts, etc, or are they only a call not to criticize Republicans?

Thousands of peolple have just died, becuase you wanted a little liberty.

In other words, you'd gladly give up liberty as long as thousands of people are saved?

Tom Brokow on NBC just a few minutes ago..."we'll have to revisit the freedoms we have".

Revisit them in a museum, perhaps.

Remember how Clinton and the left tried to use the OKC bombing as an excuse to smear talk radio, Rush Limbaugh, conservatives, and "anti-government" types in general? They blamed us for the bombing. Now some here on this site are blaming anyone who does not like our foreign policy vis-a-vis Israel and the Middle East for this latest tragedy. Now may not be the time for people to realize this, but horrible as it is, todays events were inevitable. We have been bombing and killing civilians with impunity for almost 60 years, and today we received back a very tiny portion of what we have been dishing out to others. This in no way excuses the crimes that occurred today, it is a simple observation of fact: as ye sow, so shall ye reap.

Instead of drawing the proper conclusions, however, and restoring our long dead traditions of neutrality advocated by our Founding Fathers, we will continue on our way towards Imperial overstretch and eventual collapse. Instead of restoring Constitutional liberties, we will continue on our long slow slide towards a police state.

But we hesitate to say this for fear of being blamed as somehow sympathizing with the monsters who have today murdered so many of our fellow citizens. We don't sympathize with the murderers, we sympathize with our poor deluded fellow citizens, who, hopefully, will not have to pay with any more lives for the inevitable repercussions of our ruling elite's obsessive imperial politics.

Please, before you call someone who disagrees with you a sympathizer with terrorists and murderers, think about what you are saying. We can surely disagree with each other about politics without descending into the gutter.

I'm not sure what calls you are referring to. But I would say that any elected official, of any party, who uses this attack on our country as a pretext to further erode our constituional liberties, needs alot more than a little criticism.

They at the veryleast deserve to be returned home (if they actually live in the state they represent--ha) in disgrace, with the people's full recognition that they have lost any semblance of the right to lead.

Sorry, but I simply don't understand or condone that remark. You are way, way out of line here. Eternal Vigilance didn't slaughter all of those people, the murdering terrorists did. Its been an emotional day, but remarks like that one are out of place here.

Be a man and apologize.

Hi, Inspector. Indeed a sad day for all of us. Yet, I fear you may well be right and it becomes a much SADDER day for liberty!

The sheeple would do well to be REMINDED that our Constitution is the sole reason why we are going to remain a formidable foe to the enemies. If Americans are stripped of their rights and liberties, Americans will be easy pickings for the terrorists. Does ANYONE actually believe that cessation of rights/liberties/laws will STOP them?

There is a certain JBT on this thread that is advocating the revocation of our rights. May he meet up with what he advocates.

These terrorists are probably not finished. Our loss of liberties will NOT make them go away or change their minds.
