Yes, tomorrow I "celebrate" 2 years at this job (1 block from Ground Zero) and receive 10 more vacation days.
But I won't feel happy unless bombs are falling on Baghdad.

I don't think "Baghdad" is to blame. Perhaps its president has a hand in it, and if so should receive deadly justice from us leading to a regime change, but not the country itself. More like the regime change we brought to Afghanistan....

I never said Baghdad was to blame for the attack, or the Iraqi people.
But I'm under no illusions that regime change will come about through asking nicely.

FR was a Godsend that day. All the latest was here and was reported before the networks knew a thing.Mega dittos. FR was a Godsend. I got on line after the first tower was hit and we all shared that horrible day. Rage, shock, fury, and more shock. It was an act of war and we all knew it. Those of us who had jokingly made fun of NYC in the past were completely united in outrage! Dammit, this is OUR country and how dare anyone do that to OUR people!

Bump to the top and a prayer for our country....
To: DouglasKC
another NEVER FORGET bump.
For all the empty seats around all the tables this Christmas....
For all the Dads who won't be there to put the lights on the tree, or put together the new bike...
For all the Moms who won't be there to make sure everyone gets what they wanted for Christmas, wrapped perfectly...
For all the sons who won't burst in the door, shouting Merry Christmas, with their arms laden with gifts...
For all the daughters who won't show up with casseroles, pies, and hand-knitted scarves and gloves for everyone...
For all the lovers who will not warm a cold winter night...
For all the Grandpas who won't act silly and make their grandkids wild with laughter...
For all the lovely Grandmothers who will not enchant with Christmas stories of times past....
For all those who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001....
And for all those who love them and miss them and shed a million tears this Christmas.

I still feel that we just haven't made the evil behind this accountable. On that day, we were all so hopeful that we'd beat the living crappola out of the people and govts behind this. I'm still waiting.

Yes, I noticed that sentiment in all the threads on the days immediately following. I thought for sure there would be retribution.
And yet the perpetrators still remain in our midst. The handful who were apprehended are being granted every civil right usually reserved for American citizens, not for the enemy of the people.
And in many quarters, the outrage has died. Yet for 3000 families, the grief not only lingers, but gets stronger with each passing day that justice is not done.

Thanks for bumping. I read each posting from the morning of 9/11 and can 'hear' the horror and feel the overwhelming disbelief we all carried that day. I recall the days immediately after .. all of the family members searching for loved ones. I am prayerful they have found a measure of peace and comfort, especially this time of year. May we NEVER forget.

United We Stand! Yeah, right. Look at this Trent Lott thing and the Democrats in IRAQ. For some, it's always about politics.

Never FORGIVE. Hunt them forever.

One last, end of year, "let us not forget" ping. Raise a toast.

Please pray for my friend Noreen's husband who is fighting the fire at the WTC. So, whatever became of Noreen's husband?
To: Friedrich Hayek
Bump on a day when we are under threat once again.
To: Friedrich Hayek
Miraculously, he & all his company survived. They were ordered to remain in a staging area a short distance away from the WTC. While they were awaiting orders from their Commander (who had gone to the WTC command post); the first tower collapsed.
They were able to dig out their Commander who was badly injured and get him on a ferry to Staten Island for medical help.
They also joined in the efforts to find those injured in the attack.
Noreen didn't know that he was okay until he returned home late on the night of 9-11.
