Why should non-citizen LAWBREAKERS receive relief from the extraordinary cost of higher education when out-of-state U.S. CITIZENS receive none?
"The money that we already pay to educate them from K-12 is already in the multi-billions," said CCIR Chairwoman Barbara Coe. "Now we are supposed to stand quietly by and then double or triple it to put them through college. I don't think so."
AMEN.

Lara claims that many of the students being granted in-state tuition have come into the country illegally because of their parents rather than their own individual actions. How absurd. The same can be said of out-of-state students. They didn't make the choice to grow up in another state!

This is really stupid. When the state legislature extends the same treatment to out of state legal residents and citizens of other states then it might make sense. Otherwise its giving a certain class of people unwarranted treatment. Especially unwarranted cause they and their parents are here in violation of the laws of this country. Its bad enough Texas passed such legislation but now California? It looks like this is beginning to be a trend. I can't bear the thought...

Amazing! What about out-of-state Americans? Can they get the ILLEGAL-IMMIGRANTS In-State Tuition rate also?
To: Mercuria
Doesn't surprise me. Illegal aliens are a large (and illegal) Democrat voting block.

The California Assembly is considering legislation that would extend in-state tuition rates to illegal immigrants who have graduated from California high schools. It is time for us as a nation to do one of two things:
Defend the borders
or
erase the borders.

You couldn't get me to move back to my birth state! No amount of $$$$$. I thought it was bad the last year we were there....between both my husband and I declaring -0- dependents for income tax withholding purposes, we would up writing another 1500 check to the State. Which was close to the same period of time that Jarvis' Prop 13 passed.....the taxes on our home went from $1500+ to roughly $530.
We were having problems back then....but nothing of this magnitude....when's the rest of Mexico moving in?

We have the same here in Texas, in-state tuition rates for their college education, just passed or was brought up last spring. Another reason I won't vote for Perry. I read a thread last night that said by 2004 whites would be the minority in Texas given all the immigrants total.
To: Mercuria
BUMP! Heck why don't we just give them the keys to the house and car and move down to Mexico and start over. LMAO

If someone could post the telephone numbers for these idiot assemblymen I would appreciate it very much.
To: Mercuria
Assemblymen Marco Firebaugh (D-Los Angeles) and Abel Maldonado (R-Santa Maria) said their legislation would create a level playing field for all high school graduates in the state, regardless of their immigration status. This is Leftist Sociology, full bloom. It reflects all the errors of the 20th Century.
The purpose of having a Government in California is not to create a level playing field between the Califonians and anybody who may happen to show up in their midst. The function of having a Government in California is set forth in the Declaration of Independence. It is to secure the rights of the Californians to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. To tax Californians to subsidize the life style of others is an outrage.
If Assemblymen Firebaugh and Maldonado feel a need to help finance the educations of illegal immigrants, let them do so by private charity.

To: Mercuria
California is Democrat, all the bitching will not help, they own the state. All we can do is call our representatives and voice opposition. But in the end the democrats will do as they please.
