After thousands of years in one seemingly precarious position, the hanging boulder at the Polar Caves in Rumney finally gave in to gravity, falling to the ground on the last day of the park’s season earlier this month. The boulder has been an attraction in the park since it opened more than 100 years ago.

The park said no one was injured by the Oct. 18 crash.

The prof said A) these stones were last moved 14000 years ago, by glaciers and yet also said B) that we live on a dynamic planet. 😀

Regardless of what the park says, years Saturday morning observation teaches me that an underfed coyote will be found underneath the boulder.

The movie that almost wasn't, "Coyote vs. Acme", is well worth a watch. What sort of system would have all that work go to waste just to save a few bucks as a write-off? Sinful. Fortunately the fans came through and it made way more than expected.

Meep meep!

New Hampshire does get the occasional minor earthquake.

I witnessed one while pouring water into a wine glass. A strange “spike” of water jumped straight up about three inches. That moment corresponded with reports of an earthquake at that same minute.

“The Old Man of the Mountain”, although long-braced with spikes, clamps and cables, fell just days after a similar minor quake.
