Dear Tucker: No Genocide in Gaza. Apologize!
Townhall ^ | 10/04/2026 | Kevin McCullough

Dear Tucker,

As men with public platforms, our responsibility is to tell the truth — whether one may or may not receive payment from middle eastern antisemitic propagandists. That standard applies to me. It applies to you too, Mr. Carlson.

For months, you and others have used the word "genocide" to describe what's happened in Gaza — not as a legal conclusion reached through evidence and process, but as settled, obvious fact, repeated with total confidence to millions of listeners. This week, the Gaza Health Ministry itself — the same Hamas-run body that has supplied you the death toll numbers driving that narrative from the beginning — released something it hadn't released before: a full breakdown of 2025 mortality, separating violent deaths from natural ones for the first time since the war began.

Look at what's actually in it.

Of 24,650 total deaths recorded in Gaza in 2025, 5,780 were non-violent — roughly the same non-violent death rate Gaza saw before the war even started, with a similar age distribution to 2022. That's not what population collapse looks like. Meanwhile, births in Gaza are now running around 6,000 a month, which means roughly 12 times more births than total deaths, violent and non-violent combined. Gaza's population, by this data, isn't being annihilated. It's growing, at one of the faster rates anywhere on earth right now.

And look at who the violent deaths are concentrated among. The ministry's own report shows deaths among 20- to 34-year-olds climbing to 28.8 percent of the total, and deaths under 20 rising to 28 percent — up from 17.4 percent in 2022. Translation: the casualty pattern looks like what you'd expect from a war concentrated among fighting-age men, not a campaign of indiscriminate civilian extermination targeting the defenseless and the very young disproportionately, which is the picture that's been painted on your show for two years running.

I want to be careful here, because precision matters and I'm asking you for exactly that. Genocide isn't just a body count. It's a specific legal finding requiring proof of intent to destroy a people, and this one data release doesn't settle that question by itself, in either direction. Other surveys, including a Lancet-published household study, have argued Gaza's actual death toll runs higher than the ministry's own running count, not lower. Serious people can look at a brutal, devastating war and disagree about where it lands on the spectrum between terrible and genocidal. That disagreement is legitimate.

What isn't legitimate is what you did: taking the most extreme available word, applying it with total certainty, night after night, to an audience that trusted you to have actually weighed the evidence first. This new breakdown — age distribution skewing toward combat-age men, a birth rate outpacing deaths twelve to one, natural mortality tracking pre-war norms — is precisely the kind of evidence that should have made you pause before reaching for the word you reached for. It didn't stop you. It should have.

President Trump and Ambassador Mike Huckabee have spent this war being mocked, in some of the same circles you run in, for refusing to adopt the genocide framing and for insisting Israel's campaign was aimed at Hamas, not at Gaza's population as a whole. If these numbers hold up to scrutiny — and they deserve real scrutiny, from real journalists, not just true believers on either side — then Trump and Huckabee owe no apology. The people who spent two years calling them liars, callous, or worse, for declining to use a word this data now complicates, owe one instead.First among them is you.

I'm not asking you to cheerlead for a war that has killed tens of thousands of people and devastated a civilian population, Hamas-ruled or not. That's not where this is going, and it shouldn't be. I'm asking you to apply the same skepticism to a politically convenient narrative that you'd demand of literally anything the State Department or the Pentagon ever told you to take on faith. You built a career on refusing to accept the establishment's word for things. This time, the establishment narrative was "genocide," repeated so often it became unquestionable in certain corners of the right as much as the left — and you helped make it that way. You did everything you could to ensure it.

The data showed up. It's sitting right there, released by the very source that's been feeding the narrative for two years. The least you owe your audience now is an honest second look, out loud, on the record.

To be clear, no genocide has occurred in Gaza. And anyone who continues to say so after these reports is just lying.

Please don’t let that continue to be you.

I don’t believe the Gaza campaign was a genocide campaign.

I also don’t believe the bullshit produced by advocates for the Israel campaign. Advocates that believe you can damage over 80% of the buildings in Gaza with “precision bombing” and the only damage to civilians were human shields.

The propaganda on both sides is nonsensical.

The propaganda on both sides is nonsensical.

This is becoming my conclusion, on most topics these days.

When Hamas hides behind civilians knowing Israel is a civilized country, they make civilians targets.

Which country in the Middle East do civilians have the most freedom?

Thank you for a reasoned response.

The war in Gaza is not a Genocide campaign, as Genocide usually refers to a race, or an identifiable physical character . . . a genus. Things get squirrely because Israel is a country, and Jewishness can have either biological, religious, or cultural defining factors. Hitler honed in the race part, so a Jew by ancestry who was also a practicing Christian or an atheist were bound for the same destination.

There is no distinct race of Gazans, even if there are people who lived in owned land in the area now described as Israel decades before it was declared a Jewish State. Therefore, there is no genus, no “people” being wiped out. Just being on the other side of the argument is enough to mark you for becoming collateral damage. So there is no “genocide”.

We all agree that there IS a war. Both sides have had bad moments, but that does not mean the sides are equivalent. This current volley did in fact start with the targeting of civilians on October 7th by the anti-Israeli side, and Israel seems to be allowing Mission Creep to color the response.

I do not think this is the U.S.’s fight at this point.

If the Gaza campaign was genocide, no one that was living in Gaza would be alive today.

However, remember over the last 80-85 years, the USA was attacked twice in the homeland, Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

The aftermath of Pearl Harbor was Japan got nuked.

The aftermath of 9/11 was a 20-year war that killed untold number of Muslims.

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4262726/posts Carlson’s interview on Tuesday with alleged historian Darryl Cooper — like his interview in April with Reverend Munther Isaac, referenced in today’s flashbacks — was so much worse than merely glib or incurious.

Carlson chose to interview Cooper, whom he endorsed as “the best and most honest popular historian in the United States” to learn exactly how World War II didn’t happen. According to Cooper — and Carlson nodded along the entire time — Winston Churchill was perhaps “the chief villain of the Second World War” and “primarily responsible for that war becoming what it did.” It’s true that Hitler did not want or expect Britain to fight. He wanted Britain to acquiesce to German dominance of Europe from the Urals to Gibraltar and subsume the UK to Nazi interests. This is all a matter of historical record. Britain could fight or submit — that was Hitler’s choice, not Churchill’s.

FLASHBACK: Carlson chose to interview Isaac to find out how the Jewish State of Israel treats Christians. Isaac is a priest who neither lives nor works in Israel and who uses the loaded phrase “Occupied Palestine” as his location on his Twitter/X profile. He is a Palestinian Christian from Palestinian-controlled Bethlehem, where Christian ministers serve at the mercy of the Palestinian Authority.

Recently, Carlson has repeatedly taken to praising sharia law and suggesting Islam and its totalitarian legal code offer an inspiring moral clarity in contrast with today’s Western decadence. He has visited virtually seemingly every country in the Arab world, produced propaganda films for a few of them, and even announced his attention to buy a house a Qatar. He has called Hamas not a jihadist but a political organization, said he’d apologize to the family of Osama bin Laden, and has severely downplayed the Americans who have been killed in recent decades by Islamism. And earlier this week, the eponymous Tucker Carlson Network, in a seemingly earnest post better suited for a satirical Babylon Bee headline, offered this cherry on top: “Muslims love Jesus.”

According to Webster:

Genocide (noun): the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group

but it adds:

* Legal Definition

genocide
noun

geno·cide ˈje-nə-ˌsīd
: acts committed with intent to partially or wholly destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group

also : the crime of committing such an act

I don't think ol' Tucker can be expected to adhere perfectly to a legal definition, but, he should at least be expected to adhere to something reasonably close, or to a dictionary definition.

Gazans can probably be considered a national or political group, but the pertinent point is that they are not and have not been "wiped out", to use your wording, nor has any such attempt been made. Their population has actually increased, and despite the destroyed buildings, every effort has been made to sustain the populace inside Gaza, not drive them off. If Israel had not gone by exceedingly gentle (and very hazardous to its own soldiers) ROI, the civilian casualties in Gaza would nave been several times higher, and if they had actual intent to do anything close to the above definitions, the carnage would have been much higher yet.
