The longtime Democratic insider has emerged as a behind-the-scenes force in his party’s push to win back Congress. After that, he’ll think about the next presidential race.
At a private dinner of branzino and salad at Centrolina in Washington this month, Rahm Emanuel offered a dozen of the top Democratic recruits for the U.S. House some guidance for the final fall sprint.
The role was familiar for him. Twenty years ago, Mr. Emanuel led House Democrats’ campaign arm when the party made big gains in red corners of the country.
Now he ticked through how the current environment was “eerily similar” to 2006.
“Unpopular war: check, check,” Mr. Emanuel recounted in a later interview. “Unpopular president: check, check. Massive corruption throughout the system: check, check. Spiking energy prices: check, check.”
As Mr. Emanuel, the longtime Democratic insider, not so quietly explores a run for president in 2028, he has emerged as a behind-the-scenes force in his party’s push to flip the House this fall.
He has made calls to recruit candidates, traveled for events in swing districts, offered private guidance to candidates on campaign ads, events and messaging. He has rolled out alliterative slogans — “greed, grievance and grandeur” is his latest about President Trump — and policy proposals alike. And he speaks regularly with Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the minority leader, serving as an informal sounding board for the potential next speaker.
“We’re in frequent communication at least every other week,” Mr. Jeffries said in an interview, noting that Mr. Emanuel sometimes provided readouts of how candidates were performing on the trail. “Rahm’s perspective is always thoughtful, frank, insightful and helpful.”

LOL. Emanuel’s chances of winning are slim and none. Mostly none. He is probably just shooting for the VP slot, but even that will be a tough sell in the modern Democratic party. Ditto for Josh Shapiro, whose odds are only slightly better than Emaneul’s, but at least he may be able to deliver Pennsylvania.

Hillary is way too old for any office now, and she’s already set up as the GranMaMa of the party.
Emmanuel is one smart SOB, so it would be foolish to ignore him. He’s also smart enough to wait and watch how candidates backed by Newsom, Harris, etc. all do next month.
I’ve seen Rahm at an event in D.C. years ago. He’s very small, even with his lift shoes. He’s like a very short, angry, version of Joe Pesci.
He might reach 5’6” with 2-3” lifts. Joe Lockhart was the same. About 5’3”. Camera angles make them look taller.
There is no way that dems will nominate a Jew. And Jews hate Republicans, and Conservatives, so there’s no chance of that happening either.
Let’s just vote.

Rahm was a ballarina. He got his college degree in ballet.
