Some California schools rewrite history for ‘woke’ version of 9/11

When schools teach about 9/11, the focus should be on honoring the memory of those who lost their lives, the bravery of first responders, and those who made sacrifices to save victims.

Instead, North Monterey Unified School District in California is teaching students that 9/11 should be understood as an event that made “already existing prejudices against Arab and Muslim Americans more obvious and shameless” and as a catalyst for state-sponsored Islamophobia.

My kids were in California schools during 9/11. The school district brought in the Southern Poverty Law Center to devise a curriculum to respond to 9/11. It focused on Islamophobia. The study guide given to the students had a picture of a small white child in a Ku Klux Klan get up.

That was back when the schools were teaching students how to read.

Now days children graduate from high school not knowing how to read.

Kids graduated without knowing how to read a half century ago. The point public education is to develop an informed electorate. Many of our current problems relate directly to our national failure on that point.

Public schools need martial law one could argue but my 9/11 story would be this if I ruled public education.

The USA was attacked by terrorists whose leader came from Saudi Arabia with 15 of the 19 perps.

In the aftermath of the war wars were fought in places like Iraq, Libya, Syria and Iran for the sake of Israel’s security.

The US did go into Afghanistan where the 9/11 terrorists trained but eventually pulled out with many casualties.

No, "Stalin is STILL my Dream Date" kids did not graduate not knowing how to read in the 1970s.

That did not happen until Jimmy "Gosh aren't the Mullahs wonderful" Carter decided to take the final step and completely knock down the American public education system your fellow socialist had been pulling down for decades.

But it is quite funny when you defend the people who can not teach a child how to read as the same people who are suppose to teach a child how to be a member of a "informed electorate"

Kind of difficult when the child can not read, can not spell "informed" or "electorate" and has no idea what either of those words mean.

Prior to 9/11, I don't think most Americans gave a whole lot of attention to Muslims one way or the other.

The Twin Towers were still smouldering less than a week later when GW Bush referred to Islam as a religion of peace and undertook an endeavor to fill up the country with Muslims.

It's little surprise that now 25 years later they're revising how 9/11 is taught.

In the days of Arafat, I think most Americans viewed Islam as a Middle Eastern phenomenon/problem without a whole lot of relevance to our personal lives. 9/11 changed that.
