A text message sent by Vice President JD Vance on behalf of the Republican National Committee urged people not to donate if they couldn't afford groceries.
The fundraising text sent in the Vice President's name told recipients: 'If you can't give right now, don't. Groceries cost what they cost.'
***
The appeal then offered an unusually frank admission about the Republican Party's finances.
'Now the part I owe you honesty about,' the message said.
'The Republican National Committee needs money. That's true of every party committee, and anyone who tells you otherwise is doing the exact thing I just apologized for. So I'm not going to dress it up.' *** 'If you can't give right now, don't. Groceries cost what they cost. I'm not going to make you feel guilty over a number,' it said.
*** Democrats were quick to seize on the Vice President's words, using the grocery-price reference to attack the Trump-Vance administration over the cost of living.
The Democratic National Committee claimed Americans had paid $310 more for groceries during Donald Trump and Vance's first year in office than they did in 2024, and argued that food prices remain higher than when Trump returned to the White House. *** Bureau of Labor Statistics data show that prices for food purchased for home consumption were 2.7 percent higher in July 2026 than a year earlier. But grocery prices actually fell 0.1 per cent between June and July, a small single-month decline suggesting a more complex picture.
As of the latest Federal Election Commission filings available July 31, 2026, the RNC reported approximately $130.4 million in cash on hand, while the DNC, in its latest filing covering activity through June 30, 2026, reported $16.33 million. ***

Ah he is saying “Your family is the priority”.
Nothing more.
J.D. is a liberal with very little talent. The GOP has far superior options.
Do we know if this is really from JD Vance and that is a legitimate RNC URL?
https://whois.domaintools.com/rnctxt.co says ‘registration data is limited’
I have received a bunch of similar messages asking for money - I presumed they were all scams.
Personally, I rely exclusively on Brit media for all my info on American politics. You just know they must be unbiased and straight up neutral.
It’s because of the accent.
You sir are a liar with very little intelligence.
Much of what he says is a breath of fresh air. He’s not the usual mealy-mouthed, double-talking politician.
That’s my understanding as well. This message is summed up primarily in two words, “Family first.”
I don’t see anything wrong with that message at all.
Some political operatives who send messages on behalf of those they work for are not competent in their job. Others are not committed to MAGA/Republican priniciples or way of thinking.
If there was higher inflation under Biden than Trump. If you equalize for inflation then most groceries have not had extreme increases in price.
Chicken price is down 37%. Beef price is up. Both Capitalism and common sense say “buy chicken, not beef”. Green Vegetable imports from Mexico have a reason that is not economic. Don’t buy green vegetables from Mexico. There are many other examples for many different reasons.
All communication is selective. ALL the information is too much for even the “experts”. So the effective communicator chooses the truth that best illustrates his agenda.
BTW Both the Hormuz war and Tariffs have driven up prices and both are contrary to “Capitalism” and “Free Markets”. There may be legitimate reasons other than short-term economics. We live in a mixed economy....half capitalist, half socialist. That is the reality we have to face.
I don’t understand Trump’s has 400 million he planning on spending in the RNC has over 100+ million what’s up with the crying poor mouth?
The story is also being reported by CBS, CNBC, Newsweek etc. Of course, you can summarily dismiss those sources and continue to exclusively get your news from the voices in your head.
Vance‘s post was not ideal from a political point of view. But it was correct from a humanitarian point of view.
I respect that.
Very much.
Side point: In Matthew, Jesus told us to take care of our parents before donating to the synagogue. Perhaps that passage influenced Vance here.
The Brits are completely backing Pence. Tells you all you need to know. For me, between Rubio snd Vance, Rubio has become my favorite by a thousand miles.
Rubio or DeSantis 2028
Pence? Good; let him go over there and continue the ruin of the UK.
stupidity from Samantha Loren
The Daily Mail duh
I will give directly to a campaign and never again plan to use WinRed. Their Privacy statement says you let them share with all other campaigns.
At least Anedot says your information will not be shared with anyone else, when donating.
I have given multiple thousands of dollars, over recent years, but not again. This harassment is far beyond reasonable.
What?!?!
What JD said is honorable.
