US gas prices back up to an average of $4 a gallon again as the US and Iran launch attacks

U.S. gas prices jumped to an average of $4 a gallon again Monday as the U.S. and Iran launched more attacks.

According to motor club federation AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is now back to $4. The average price a year ago was $3.14 a gallon.

The price is a national average, meaning drivers in some states have been paying well over $4 a gallon for a while now, while others pay less. Prices vary between states due to factors ranging from nearby supply to differing tax rates.

People around the world are also dealing with high gas prices as a result of the war.

Gas prices first went over $4 a gallon on average at the end of March. They dipped below that in mid-June and continued to fall as crude oil prices eased when the U.S. and Iran reached an interim deal. Even then, President Donald Trump expressed frustration that gas prices weren’t falling as quickly as oil prices.

Affordability is likely to be a key issue for voters in the U.S. midterm elections, and higher gas and oil prices can help push up prices for groceries and other goods.

I’m just fine with $4.50 here in Upstate NY. I was paying over $5/gal under Biden...and HE alone was the cause.

I kept an Excel file tracking prices from the closest 10 stations to me, a price which stations CLAIM are based on a 2-week delayed price of wholesale refined unleaded gas.

The problem was, as crude futures fell nearly $30/barrel - from $95 to $67, the price fell by around 40 cents - and took 4.5 weeks to do so. But as the crude price rose from $67 to $82 ($15) over the past 2 weeks, the price started immediately moving back up 40 cents - first 10 cents after just 48 hours, now the full 40 in less than 14 days.

How is this not gouging?

“How is this not gouging?”

Because they tell you so as they implement DEI and other leftist programs to improve your life.

If that's the price I have to pay to save the world from a Nuclear Iran...so be it.

I had 8 uncles and my father in WWII. We walked or took the bus.

I remember queueing for gas in the 70s.

We survived that.

We’ll survive this

Seems like gouging to me. Of course, the stations need to sell what is in the tanks according to what they paid for it, but recent ups & downs in the middle east tends to muddy the waters on prices.

Walking or taking the bus is fine...except where there is no substantial bus service, it’s too far to walk to get & carry what you need. This would work well in some places, but not where I live.

Prices were up to five dollars a gallon AND OVER when Biden was President - anyone remember the constant drumbeat of ‘concern’ about gasoline prices back then?

Didn’t think so...

I am a little annoyed there is no response from Trump on the death of two soldiers by Iran. By rights Trump should have troops on Karg Island by now.

So do you complain about Starbucks and their gouging of coffee prices? You local grocery where you have seen in excess of 10% inflation of their prices?
