A former New York state trooper was sentenced to two-and-a-half to seven-and-a-half years in prison for his role in the death of an 11-year-old Brooklyn girl back in 2020.
Monica Goods died after her father fled a traffic stop at high speed.
"Daddy, stop"
Judge Bryan Rounds sentenced Christopher Baldner for contributing to Goods' death. Baldner was stoic as he received the sentence, which was half the 15-year maximum for second-degree manslaughter. Judge Rounds said justice was only half served, and that he listened to the victim. Monica had called out "Daddy, stop," during her tense final moments.
Monica's father, Tristin Goods, had been caught speeding and refused to show identification during the traffic stop. Baldner used pepper spray, then gave chase when Goods drove off at high speed. Baldner rammed their SUV twice. There was a crash, and Monica was killed.
Anthony Ricco, Baldner's defense attorney, said Goods' actions "have to factor in. [Tristin Goods] knows none of this had to happen."

Goods was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her father, Tristin Goods, on Dec. 22, 2020, when Baldner stopped the vehicle for traveling 101 miles an hour on the state Thruway. An argument between the two men ensued and in audio captured on Baldner’s cell phone, Goods — who testified at trial that at the time of the stop he believed in the tenets of sovereign citizens — could be heard screaming and cursing at Baldner, refusing to produce his license because he was “traveling in my conveyance.”
Using bullhorns and carrying signs, the group maintained a near-constant stream of chants, including “No Justice, No peace. No racist police” along with demands for “Justice for Monica,” and “Anthony Ricco, shame on you.” Ricco, a Black man, is one of Baldner’s defense attorneys.

One question: did the cop realize there was a young girl in the car? If so, he is partially cuplable. In this situation, there were better ways to handle this. Especially if he had the vehicle license plate.

THe car flipped over after being rammed...... she was thrown from the vehicle. If the girl was in a seatbelt, she should have survived.......no info on that but you don’t get thrown from a car with a seatbelt on. 1% is the rate per the NHTSA

That’s only because the little girl and her father were black, and the trooper is white. The father walked away without charges. How are you not complicit in the death of your daughter when you were speeding with her in the car, and your speed contributed to her death?

That’s a good point; however, the cop did not initiate this action and this event. The moron father did.
Ultimately, the Radio wins the day. They know his identity. They know his car they have his plate, so yes, they could’ve met him at his home.
However, that is not the case. This event, and the death of the child is Entirely laid at the feet of the father.
