A top Democratic governor claimed at a meeting Wednesday that her party doesn’t “need any of the men” to win the 2028 presidential election.
Democrat New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham made the boast while speaking at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) Rules and Bylaws Committee Meeting in Washington, D.C., alongside other state leaders and convention chairs.
The 7-hour-long meeting allowed state leaders to present their case to the committee regarding which states should be granted an “early window” status in the 2028 presidential nominating calendar.
Although a staff member admitted that Democrats are “losing their share of the electorate” in New Mexico, Gov. Grisham followed up by arguing that the party only needed female votes to be “good” in the election.
“If women — Democratic women — just show up and vote, we’re good. We don’t need any of the men,” Grisham said.
A New Mexico official remarked immediately before Grisham on the state’s strength in female Democratic voters. “We have more women and women of color elected in New Mexico than anywhere else in the country. We have the most female legislature,” she said.
New Mexico ranks second behind Nevada in its percentage of female legislators (54 percent), according to the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP).

In December 2019, a former campaign staffer and spokesperson, James Hallinan, accused Lujan Grisham of sexual battery. According to Hallinan, the incident took place during a staff meeting in 2018. By his account, Lujan Grisham poured a bottle of water on his crotch and then slapped and grabbed his crotch through his pants while laughing. He said the incident happened “in front of everybody”.
In April 2021, it was publicized that Lujan Grisham and her gubernatorial campaign, while denying the allegations, had reached a $62,500 settlement with the law firm representing Hallinan. The payment was made in monthly installments of $12,500 from November 2020 to March 2021. Her political committee paid another $87,500 over six months, bringing the total payout to $150,000
Imagine the outrage if she had said blacks.

I recently drove the I-40 through New Mexico, border to border.
I-40 is in DREADFUL, VERY ROUGH condition, except for the Albuquerque area.
Pretty obvious that she is NOT spending money on the highway!
