The U.S. military confirmed on Monday that Kuwait “mistakenly shot down” three American F-15E Strike Eagles flying in support of Operation Epic Fury during active combat as Iran attacked the country.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) described the incident as “an apparent friendly fire incident.”
"During active combat—that included attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones — the U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses," a statement read.
CENTCOM said all six aircrew were able to eject safely and were recovered in stable condition. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
"Kuwait has acknowledged this incident, and we are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti defense forces and their support in this ongoing operation," officials stated.

I used to complain that the Saudis couldn’t operate anything correctly, but has Sri Lankans to do all their technical work.
Now we long for the Sri Lankans to operate the equipment, not the Kuwaitis .

Back in the day a buddy was doing live fire with CEV at fort hood, three of them. He was standing in the open hatch of his vehicle just as one CEV fired prematurely. He got on the radio after seeing he was unhurt, “What the hell?”. The reply came, “ Don’t worry about it sir, were beating the hell out of him right now!”

What Iranian aircraft? I thought the remnants of the Iranian Air Force were destroyed in the 12-day war last June.

Many years ago my then employer hired a Kuwaiti engineer to solve some vexing problem. The guy was nice but really arrogant. He talked a lot about how they had “staff” to do everything for them. Maids etc.
He wasn’t very smart as an engineer and had trouble grasping simple concepts that I (not an engineer) understood implicitly.
As in much of Islam, inbreeding has destroyed any intellect they once had.
Good thing our air crews all made it out alive and hopefully not too beat up. If all there F-15s were hit by Patriot missiles and the air crews survived that speaks well for the F-15.
1987-USS Stark. Iran and Iraq were at war and we supported Iraq. 2 Exocet missiles struck the Stark. It was an Iraqi pilot that fired the missiles.
Was it an accident? About as likely as this one.
Bearing in mind this story has been polished into something palatable, looking through that into what really happened one is faced with the usual awareness that in weeks or months to come there will be some announced training deaths to provide information to the families.
If only Boeing could likewise build 737s....
As the Saudis found out today it seems that Iran has a little more fight left than has been reported. Thankfully the Saudis seem to have displayed a bit more technical ability than some here have reported or we could be looking at $15 gal for gas.
I worked there for a bit. Good they had, “people to do things for them”. A few were capable.
In the IT world, outside of Europe, there are few foreigners who know that much. Too much of the world is degree-focused and they worry too much about making mistakes.
I’m not sure this was a mistake.
