The following analysis reflects the opinions and interpretations of Braden Langley of Langley Outdoors Academy. AmmoLand News is not asserting factual conclusions regarding the incident. Investigations into the death of Alex Pretti are ongoing, and no official determinations have been made.
Braden Langley of Langley Outdoors Academy has posted a compelling analysis of what appears to be a combination of an unintentional discharge of Alex Pretti’s Sig Sauer P320, combined with the predictable response, which led to his shooting and death in Minneapolis on January 24, 2026. Langly does his analysis on YouTube.
To sum up the action as shown in numerous videos. Alex Pretti is involved in obstructing ICE officers from making an arrest, along with numerous other individuals. Pretti is in the street and is actively aiding others in obstructing ICE. A couple of women are working with Alex. ICE agents tell them to leave/get out of the way. Pretti does not do so. An ICE agent sprays him with pepper spray, and about 3-5 ICE agents attempt to place him in custody. Pretti struggles, resisting arrest. 3-5 ICE agents are involved, taking Pretti to the ground, and attempting to gain control over Pretti.
One of the agents, wearing a grey jacket and grey headgear, reaches into the scrum of struggling men, takes a pistol off of Pretti, which appears to have been in the small of Pretti’s back. It is not clear if there is a holster. At this point, someone yells, “Gun! Gun! Gun!” which is what agents are trained to do when a weapon is found during a struggle.
At the “Gun! Gun! Gun!” warning, at least one of the agents draws his handgun. The agent in grey starts to step away from the scrum, removing the pistol from the scene, a prudent move.

In Langley’s detailed analysis, it appears the slide on the Sig P320 moves back and forth as the agent in grey holds it down toward the ground by his side as he steps away. His hand appears to move, as if from recoil. There is some evidence of a bullet hitting the ground
****************************************************************
Yes and it appears that the explosive gases from the barrel also produced a “puff” that moved the ball cap that was on the ground. Of course it’s possible that the expended bullet itself would have been enough to move the hat.
Pretti may have kept his pistol in the holster with its safety off.
Then later another video showed how the alphabets doctored Pretti Boi's photograph. His true visage looks like Heckel and Jeckel, an elongated egg, a dork. The Alphabets shortened and widened his head, gave him a nose job, and hid his bald spot. Unbelievable but true.
Actions and reactions
If it wasn’t a Sig 320, I’d think it was BS.......
Thank you. This is the kind of content that makes America great.
This is the video: https://youtu.be/_ktY_amK35A
Prior to the 7 min mark, you see an ICE agent taking the Sig. Thus, prescinding from him having another gun, Pretti is disarmed.
The speaker on the video mentioned “contagious gunfire” - a sociological phenomenon observed in police and other personnel, in which one person firing on a target can induce others to begin shooting without knowing why they are firing. Most of us who’ve been on the range can testify to this phenomenon.
At the 7 min mark, you see the ICE agent walk away, and see the agent’s hand and arm move and it LOOKS LIKE the slide moves backward - all like a round is being discharged.
It sure looks like this: Pretti had a round chambered. He is disarmed by ICE. The Sig negligently discharges in the agent’s hand, ICE agents succumb to Contagious Gunfire, and Pretti is killed.
No, Pretti didn’t fire at ICE, but we can debate the pros and cons of Israeli Carry.
No, ICE didn’t simply open fire like bloodthirsty goons.
This is a perfect, tragic storm. Per marktwain: “ This appears to be good evidence of an unintentional discharge of Pretti’s Sig handgun. A series of unfortunate events, brought about by highly organized insurrectionists trying to destroy the Republic.
“My addition to your theory is: The leftwing establishment has grown so dependent on the enormous fraud/theft of tazpayer money, they are terrified of being exposed.
“The riots are a desperate attempt to divert attention, delay, and hope to discredit/intimidate the Trump administration to prevent serious investigation of the fraud/theft.”
It’s an outstanding compilation and analysis. Bravo Langley Outdoors Academy.
I agree. I have dropped my weapon before accidentally but fortunately it didn’t discharge. His model Sig Sauer might have gone off when he struck the ground.
So Pretti, with an established history of assaulting federal officers and property, engages federal officers, again, while carrying a pistol with a chambered round, forcing officers to disarm him in the scuffle. A weapon with a chambered round is a foreseeable danger to everyone including yourself.
If you left a pistol holstered in your house and a child picked it up and it accidentally discharged and killed someone, who would get the manslaughter charge?
I have dropped my S&W .45 accidentally on pavement and was amazed when it didn’t discharge. I agree that a Sig Sauer might not be as safe. But if he were running around with his safety off and actively resisting, I could see it happen.
The is not a “safety” button on semi-auto handguns like a rifle. The safety is in the way the round is chambered and Sig uses a de-cock level, except in double action ONLY pistols which have no safety what-so-ever, it is an internal trigger block. P320’s are notorio9us for accidental discharges. The trusty Colt 1911 has a safety, but it is a slide lock or you put the hammer manually back down to the half cock position.
Not to give this guy any cover, but the pros and cons of chambering a round before carrying or with guns stored at home is hotly debated.
There are obvious security downsides.
Alternatively, the second it takes to rack a slide or pump a shotgun could be a difference between survival and death. Indeed, if the Bad Guy is seeking you out, having a round chambered avoids the attendant noise and surrendering your position.
Pretti chose against Israeli carry and it may have cost him his life. Your mileage may vary.
Who cares? He was committing a felony being where he was, and doing what he was doing — gun or no gun.
If you get killed while committing a felony ... too bad, so sad.
Carrying guns to a “demonstration” changes the nature of the action. It is now an armed confrontation.
Wasn’t there an article posted here earlier this week that the weapon was a Glock with the same characteristics that are now said to be true for the Sig Sauer?
I was in Seattle when two men were struggling with a hand gun. One man had the gun in his hand and the other was using both hand to keep the gun from pointing at him. Suddenly, the gun goes flying on the ground and discharging. Lucky for me the bullet flew away hitting a nearby building.
These handguns will discharge without pulling the trigger.
Possibly a negligent or a deliberate discharge.
There is no such thing as an unintentional discharge.
...CBP personnel attempted to take Pretti into custody. Pretti resisted CBP personnel's efforts and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, a BPA yelled, "He's got a gun!" multiple times. Approximately five seconds later, a BPA discharged his CBP-issued Glock 19 and a CBPO also discharged his CBP-issued Glock 47 at Pretti. After the shooting, a BPA advised he had possession of Pretti's firearm. The BPA subsequently cleared and secured Pretti's firearm in his vehicle...

"Based on the photograph of the gun, Joshua Harrison, a firearms expert based in Huntington Beach, California, said the model appeared to be a P320 AXG Combat."
Absolutely. If you walk around with a bullet in the chamber, then you are much more likely to have an accidental discharge. I carry, and have many times chambered, and have decided I should leave the chamber empty. I was lucky as I dropped my weapon twice and didn’t have a discharge. And I am trained and very careful. So I wonder if Pretti just disrespected his weapon and carried with it chambered.
