MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Rows of businesses stood shuttered inside a sprawling complex of Somali businesses on a recent afternoon.
Karmel Mall in south Minneapolis contains more than a hundred small businesses in suites offering everything from clothing and food to insurance and accounting services.
But many sellers sat alone in their clothing stores, waiting for the occasional customer to walk by. Everyone is afraid of federal immigration agents, business owners said. Sellers and customers, citizens and noncitizens. Some don’t bother opening shop because they aren’t expecting any customers.
“It’s been like this for three weeks now,” said Abdi Wahid, who works at his mom’s convenience store in the mall. “Everywhere it’s all been closed up, all the stores.”
Karmel Mall is an economic hub for the area’s Somali population, which is the largest in the U.S. But it also features housing, a mosque and Quran classes, serving as a robust community center for the area.
The economic impact of the Trump administration’s “Operation Metro Surge” stretches beyond the Somali community: many immigrants are on edge, afraid to go to work or leave their homes amid the immigration crackdown.
Wahid said early afternoons at the family business once meant 15 to 20 customers. These days, it’s tough to get one.
Ibrahim Dahiye, who sells electronics, said winter always used to be slow, “but now it’s totally different. No one comes here. All the stores are closed, few are open.”
“I don’t know what we can do,” Dahiye said. “We believe in Allah, but we can’t do anything.”

All the daycare centers are empty...

As I wrote elsewhere…
This is odd.
We’ve been told that illegals take jobs no American wants.
Yet this article shows NO signs that businesses are putting “Help Wanted” signs in their windows, despite being short staffed.
It would appear that business PREFERS illegals as employees. I suspect that’s because the employer always has the upper hand.
In which case, that means pro-illegal alien supporters tacitly sanction harsh labor conditions and the framework where Americans take advantage of illegals.
The leftists are truly reprehensible.
Businesses where the Scamalis do nothing and the taxpayer pays them ?
LOL LOL OMG the jokes write themselves
Upstairs, Bashir Garad runs Safari Travel & Accounting Services. Not only has the crackdown in Minneapolis meant he’s lost almost all his customers, but his existing clients are cancelling upcoming trips because they’re worried they won’t be let back into the country.
Safari and accounting services.
I haven't paid real close attention to the "protest" videos, but from what I've seen so far I haven't seen many people of color in the videos...
Oh no, anyway. Maybe these leftist will now feel what it was like for a small business owner during the quote two weeks to slow the spread” that turned into a year of shutdowns.
“”””Karmel Mall in south Minneapolis contains more than a hundred small businesses in suites offering everything from clothing and food to insurance and accounting services.”””
The APE PEA must have looked hard to find a Somali Mall that was not a provider of daycare, autism care, transportation services, or home health care.
Nick Shirley easily found the Somali malls that were the HQ’s for the aforementioned Somali Fraud Businesses.
My tiny violin is at the cleaners
Their regular customers must be illegals shopping with stolen cash obtained by fraud?
“Businesses where the Scamalis do nothing and the taxpayer pays them ?”
Exactly, and taxpayers across the country.
“””Same Somalis who are out on the streets attacking ICE Agents and beating up innocent people?
And stealing tax payer dollars with fake child care centers?”””
Except for the one case of 2 Somalis beating an ICE agent with a shovel, I have not seen other reports of Somalis being out on the streets.
The Somalis are too busy defrauding. They are letting middle aged CAT LADIES do the heavy lifting as far as street screaming goes.
And they're supposed to be dumb due to their IQ of 68. They may be illiterate but they're not stupid.
Drones with tear gas drops is handy for crow control use it.
Stop wasting time
Why should any of these supposed businesses in this mall be concerned about no customers?
The Somalis get all the FREE money they want from the FEDS and MN.
And the Somalis get all the FREE security services they need from moronic leftists who are willing to commit felonies and be killed defending the Somalis.
