Trump ending federal funding to sanctuary cities, states

President Trump announced early Wednesday that his administration will strip federal funding from sanctuary cities and states, in line with policies he promoted on the campaign trail.

“EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY FIRST, NO MORE PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO STATES FOR THEIR CORRUPT CRIMINAL PROTECTION CENTERS KNOWN AS SANCTUARY CITIES,” the president wrote in a post on Truth Social.

“ALL THEY DO IS BREED CRIME AND VIOLENCE! If States want them, they will have to pay for them! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” he added.

The post follows his Tuesday speech at the Detroit Economic Club when he said sanctuary cities “do everything possible to protect criminals at the expense of American citizens.”

Sanctuary jurisdictions often limit local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities. Some also provide social benefits to immigrants lacking legal status.

In August, Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter to 32 sanctuary jurisdictions deemed noncompliant with federal immigration laws. The list of states included California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.

She urged them to comply with the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts or lose funding, citing an executive order signed by Trump in April.

The order directs Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to “identify appropriate Federal funds to sanctuary jurisdictions, including grants and contracts, for suspension or termination, as appropriate.”

The latest move comes after a federal judge ruled the executive order, which would have paused funding for more than 30 sanctuary cities, was likely unconstitutional. U.S. District Judge William Orrick, who was appointed by former President Obama, extended his preliminary injunction...

US to cut funding to states over 'sanctuary cities,' Trump says

Jan 14 (Reuters) - Federal payments will be halted to states over their so-called sanctuary cities on February 1, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday without elaborating on what funds or which states. Trump reiterated his comment from a day earlier that the federal government would withhold the money starting next month.

"Effective February first, no more payments will be made by the federal government to states for their corrupt criminal protection centers known as sanctuary cities," Trump wrote in a social media post.

A federal judge in August blocked Trump's administration from withholding U.S. funding from more than in 30 jurisdictions including Los Angeles, Baltimore, Boston and Chicago that have declined to cooperate with his hardline immigration crackdown following the president's executive orders a year ago.

The injunction only covers jurisdictions that joined the case, which is still pending. Multiple other lawsuits over funding and sanctuary policies have also been filed.

Representatives for the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This will force Democrats to call-out all their NGOs, local street-muscle and fraud recipients, deep-state government bureaucrats, and their controlled media into full-scale war against Trump.

No doubt Trump expected this war, and it will be waged on the battlefield he has chosen.

On the one hand, I think Democrats are trying to get their street level thugs to cause an incident, hoping that the federal government will “over-react” and gain public sympathy for the people who are opposing Trump.

On the other hand, I think Trump is taking steps to anger Democrat politicians so that they will “over-react” in an explicitly Insurrectionist manner.

I think Trump is locked and loaded for Insurrection and (hopefully) will initiate military tribunals for a lot of high-ranking politicians. We need to get this to the next level. The fraud is there. The US taxpayers have been paying for our own overthrow. We need to turn the tables.

It will show from where they get their desperation money and power. After that it will dry up with nowhere left to seek it out

No one is going to buy in to what we’re looking at, with glassy-eyed criminals using their cars to assault federal law enforcement agents. Then getting shot in the head multiple times at close range. It’s not an attraction to the cause

There’s going to be no one else funding Hollywood? They’ll wear a little weird lapel button and run up to the nearest camera. But theyre not funding anything. They’re on the outs themselves.

So the first case was against cities and now Trump is applying the same to the states which is a whole different group of defendants. It does seem as if there was a plan to drag out the payments as long as possible from being paid. So possibly the injunction against the cities gets lifted but then it’s covered by the one against the states. Rinse and repeat

They don't need any street muscle: the fix is in with leftist judges in the corrupt Federal judiciary.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Roberts stab Trump in the back over tariffs as well.

OK …so we all know that obama judges will be tripping all over themselves to restore the funding. Question is: What will Trump do next???

Be careful what you ask for! You make military tribunals easy to use on civilians when Ratlanders are back in power they will be used on you! Oh you don’t think Ratlanders will ever be back in power again? If Trump gives us good times, people will think why can’t we have “free stuff” now. Rats will claim to be able to provide it and people will fall for it.

Everyone on this site has the potential to be in front of such a tribunal. Look at the UK, look at Europe! The UK has put more people in jail because of online commentary then Russia.

Another thing, do you actually want a trial or just revenge with a thin cloth of pseudo-legality? Sounds like what you really want is something out of the French or Russian revolution!

Federal judges will lay down injunctions in about 5 minutes.

It's amazing to think about how many Federal judges will do anything to keep all these illegal immigrants here, but not one raised a finger to stop the "Biden" regime from illegally importing millions.

Trump is going to have to decide whether he wants to fail or cross the Rubicon and ignore the Federal judiciary and start arresting Dems.

Everyone on this site has the potential to be in front of such a tribunal.

They'll do that anyway or indict you for "hate speech" or "racism". That's inevitable. The Dems are screaming for blood and imprisoning every Trump official and supporter already.

Might as well "let the dice fly high" and see what happens.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE that kind of thinking.

My view is that, as it stands right now, if we do nothing more, at some point, the Democrats will get into power. It’s just bound to happen in a two-party system. And WHEN they do, they will:
1) Kill the filibuster
2) Pack the Supreme Court
3) Imprison Republican officials
4) Censor Republican ideas
5) Anyone who tries to oppose any of that WILL face a military tribunal

That IS going to happen.

Meanwhile, right here, we completely disarm ourselves because, oh gosh, oh golly, if we actually did something — anything at all — gee willickers, when the Democrats get into power, they might do it to us.

They’re already planning on doing it to us. Being on our “best behavior” today will not save us in the years to come.

Reily, we will be in front of tribunal’s anyway if the “Rats” come back into power. They were already taking unprecedented steps during Biden’s admin and if they regain power, they will not let it slip away again.
