Speaker Mike Johnson defended Donald Trump’s declaration Thursday that some congressional Democrats engaged in “sedition” after the president suggested those Democrats should be executed Thursday.
Johnson said it was the Democrats who were acting “wildly inappropriate” by suggesting that military members should disobey unlawful orders from Trump. By post “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH,” according to Johnson, Trump was simply “defining the crime of sedition.”
“That is a factual statement,” Johnson said, adding attorneys would have to “parse” the language in the criminal act.
Trump had previously reposted another Truth Social user, who wrote, “HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD!!”
Johnson said he did not see the full scope of Trump’s comments and reposts, but he joined in Trump’s attacks on the six House and Senate Democrats who posted a video addressing military members.
“For a senator like Mark Kelly or any member of the House or Senate to behave in that kind of talks is to me so just beyond the pale,” Johnson said, before telling reporters, “I’m not going to say anything more on it.”
In separate remarks, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer denounced Trump’s comments, saying the president “is lighting a match in a country soaked with political gasoline.”
“Every senator, every representative, every American regardless of party should condemn this immediately and without qualification,” he said. " Because if we don’t draw a line here, there is no line left to draw.”

John Podesta planned civil war if Biden lost in 2020.
Top Democrats contemplate civil war if Biden loses
The plan was postponed for four years when they managed to steal the 2020 election.
In the meantime, they made a predictive-programming movie about a civil war to prepare their minions for what to do when the time came.
In Podesta's plan and in the movie, Left-coast states form a "Western Alliance," secede from the Union and eventually assassinate the President.
Lo-and-behold, California, Oregon and Washington have formed an alliance to "cow" the President.
The Western States Can COW the President
And when Gavin Newsom bragged about forming the alliance on Steven Colbert's show, the minions cheered because they were in on the plan.
Gavin Newsom gets the full Colbert treatment
He highlighted California’s partnership with nearby states to counter what he’s called the politicization of the CDC and vaccine guidelines under HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Who wrote the script for the video?
Who funded it?
Who produced it?
Who directed it?
Who was the editor?
Where was it “shot”?
Who posted it?
BTW...Mike Johnson is a Constitutional lawyer.
In the Espionage Act of 1917, Section 3 made it a federal crime, punishable by up to 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000, to willfully spread false news of the United States Army or Navy with an intent to disrupt its operations, to foment mutiny in their ranks, or to obstruct recruiting. This Act of Congress was amended by the Sedition Act of 1918, which expanded the scope of the Espionage Act to any statement criticizing the Government of the United States. These laws were upheld by the Supreme Court in the 1919 decisions Schenck v. United States (concerning distribution of flyers urging men to resist the draft) and Abrams v. United States (concerning leaflets urging cessation of weapons production). Schenck led to the “shouting ‘fire’ in a crowded theater” explanation of the limits of free speech. The laws were largely repealed in 1921, leaving laws forbidding foreign espionage in the United States and allowing military censorship of sensitive material.
Well here’s a suggestion for figuring it out - have US Marshalls knock on their doors at 4AM and ask them to explain...
Yeah, with a full SWAT-type team, and some handcuffs.
If the Democrats want their states to leave the union again, I hope we just let them go this time around without any wars or fighting needed. The left coast choosing to go independent would solve most of our problems, one has to admit.
Hakeem looking more like Grady Wilson everyday.
Good goobily-goo
Sure Mike. You couldn’t get 6 worthless Republicans to censure that Puerto Rico lady who is only a delegate.
President Trump, ultimate counter-puncher
Once again the left tries to sell fantasy for reality. In such a situation the reality will quickly become overwhelming for a great many of their ‘revolutionaries’. A painful lesson the Southern US learned very, very well.
Democrats embraced an anti American collectivist ideology long, long ago.
There’s not a single democrat in Congress that actually supports the Constitution, even though every one of them has sworn an oath to uphold and defend it.
All judges appointed by democrats are blinded by this alien ideology, and not a single one of them belongs on the bench.
We should demand that they live up to their oath of office or resign, without exception.
They are already guilty of treason, what more evidence do we need?
I support the President’s statements on this issue, let the civil war begin NOW.
Let’s get this over with once and for all.
The hippies should have been deported decades ago, along with the university professors that radicalized them.
“I’m not going to say anything more on it.” = Draw
Good. This is a War! Act like it!
I have always discounted, mostly, talk of a civil war, until here lately. The sedition of the democrats changed my thinking. Looks like the next civil war will be just as contrived as the first one.
I wonder how excited the Dims would get if a bunch of Republicans came out with a “public service” announcement stating that assassinating Dims and liberal judges was illegal.
