A top Border Patrol commander touted dozens of arrests in North Carolina’s largest city on Sunday as Charlotte residents reported encounters with federal immigration agents near churches and apartment complexes.
The Trump administration has made the Democratic city of about 950,000 people its latest target for an immigration enforcement surge it says will combat crime, despite fierce objections from local leaders and down trending crime rates.
Gregory Bovino, who led hundreds of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents on a similar operation in Chicago, took to social media to document some of the arrests he said had reached more than 80. He posted pictures of people the Trump administration commonly dubs “criminal illegal aliens,” for people living in the U.S. without legal permission who have alleged criminal records. That included one of a man with an alleged history of drunk driving convictions.
“We arrested him, taking him off the streets of Charlotte so he can’t continue to ignore our laws and drive intoxicated on the same roads you and your loved ones are on,” Bovino wrote on X.
The effort was dubbed “Operation Charlotte’s Web” as a play on the title of a famous children’s book that isn’t about North Carolina. But the flurry of activity immediately raised questions, including where detainees would be held, how long the operation would run and what agents’ tactics that have been heavily criticized elsewhere would look like in North Carolina.
Bovino’s operations in Chicago and Los Angeles triggered a flurry of lawsuits and investigations over questions about use of force, including wide deployment of chemical agents. Democratic leaders in both cities said that agents’ presence inflamed community tensions and led to violence. Of course the AP has been a hard-core propaganda outlet over the past several years. I’d be willing to bet a lot more residents are “overwhelmed” by the Dems letting all the gang bangers and other assorted criminals continue to victimize them than are overwhelmed by law enforcement apprehending them and sending them home.
Why does ICE come in and grab this guy or that guy. Because this guy or that guy is a clear criminal. A violent criminal. And often a child sex offender. The biggest question is why are the democrats and press defending them like they are nothing more than ordinary lawn care workers who go home to their large families every night?
These retarded, ignorant residents needs to start adopting miggies and make them wards of the family. They can feed them, shelter them, change all the babie’s diapers, home school them, make them take first aid classes and do all the things to prevent them from ripping off the paychecks of hardworking American families.
So a police agency establishing a presence in a community raises tensions, what do the tensioned inhabitants expect? If the cops go away, the crooks have won and tensions are higher; I offer Mexico as an example. If the cops stay and colllect up most or all of the banditos, then go away, tensions are lower. I am lost; which is preferable?

I live in Charlotte. Moved here 10 years ago from Los Angeles, trying to get away from California craziness and the huge influx of illegals turning SoCal into North Mexico. I was shocked to learn that Charlotte has lots of illegals too, so I absolutely applaud ICE and the Border Patrol for doing this.
And because everything that Trump does must be opposed, lied about, and portrayed in a negative light. Even arresting criminals - probably Democrat donors as well as illegal voters.
Arresting criminals is racist and clear evidence of the cost of the terrible hegemony of western civilization over simpler indigenous cultures.
Funny how they never did any local sob stories on that aspect, huh?

My REGRET is that IT’S NOT THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS.
Americans were overwhelmed when 35-40 million criminal invaders crossed our borders illegally.
It’s way past time to round them up, and move them out.
We’re broke, in debt, and mortgaging our grandchildren’s future.

Dozens out of 950,000 people. No one is missing them. The population is not changed.
Not a drop in the bucket. 40 million illegals in a country of 340 million gives 111,000 in the Charlotte area (pop 950,000)
