Vice President JD Vance says that mass immigration under former President Joe Biden significantly skyrocketed the cost of rent and home prices.
In an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity, Vance attributed sky-high home prices to record-setting illegal immigration under Biden — noting that flooding the housing market increases prices on Americans, particularly those first-time home-buyers.
“To me [this] is maybe the most important because I care so much about our young people being able to afford a good life, a lot of young people are saying, ‘Housing is way too expensive,'” Vance said:
Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who are taking houses, which ought by right go to American citizens and at the same time, we weren’t building enough new houses to begin with even for the population we have. [Emphasis added]
Vance said the Trump administration is looking to make it easier for home builders to build new homes and make home prices more affordable with fierce interior immigration enforcement.
“What we’re doing is trying to make it easier to build houses, to build factories, and things like that so that people have good jobs,” Vance said. “We’re also getting all of those illegal aliens out of our country and you’re already seeing it starting to pay some dividends.”
Vance also said the key to the nation’s “affordability crisis” is boosting wages for Americans.
“That is where the Trump economy, I think objectively … is just doing better than any economy in 50-60 years,” Vance continued, saying the president wants to “make an economy for people who can afford to buy the things that they need — the best way to do that is good jobs and good wages.”

Last year, Center for Immigration Studies researcher Steven Camarota revealed a similar statistic to Congress, stating that “a 5-percentage-point increase in the recent immigrant share of a metro area’s population is associated with a 12-percent increase in the average U.S.-born household’s rent, relative to their income.”
And the illegal aliens are getting priority over American citizens, and truck loads of free stuff from the government.

We’ve got plenty of houses built to house our own population. Ship 10s of millions of illegals out and housing will (rightfully) open up and plummet in cost.

Young Americans can't afford homes and are hopelessly in debt because the previous generations sold out their futures for the promise of cheap prices from cheap labor.
It was nice of of the boomers and gen X'rs to let them keep the minimum wages jobs saying "Fries with that?", but calling so many of our kids celler dwellers because the high paying jobs we used to take for granted have been offshored so we could save a few pennies on communist, slave labor made paint brushes is kind of unfair.
A very true statement... And this isn’t only a result of illegal immigration... It’s a result of all immigration. Many of the legal and illegal immigrants are rich... And they are likely very rich from United States, and United Nations foreign aid. Much of the money sent to these foreign countries is funneled into the hands of the upper elite in these third world countries... They then use those funds to move to western countries and live middleclass and millionaire lifestyles by typically open a ‘barber shop’ or a ‘phone store’ to explain their obvious wealth... When they are in fact hiding it.
They then buy up homes and business a plenty and thereby drive up home prices. A possible solution... New immigrants should be restricted to owning one residence for their first decade in the west... Not multiple residents.
Bringing in some tens of millions of illegal aliens increases Demand and therefore Prices of houses and rent.

Reducing Demand by deporting illegal aliens should reduce house prices and rents.
Yep, building codes. They are going green and driving costs higher as well.
Also helps not having a $500+ month car payment while living in a brand new $2,000/month apartment.

Getting rid of illegals and cutting down on legal immigration will help at a federal level
Seems like a lot of problems would be solved at the state level though and I don’t if any state has really proposed anything to get prices down.
The only new homes that have been built in my neck of the woods are McMansions.
Developers haven’t been building affordable homes.
There a lot of reasons for that, but illegals aren’t one of them.
At least not around here.
