As a near hermit myself I have to be compassionate about Trump supporters who sheepishly, obsequiously sit with folded
hands at family dinners and celebrations on the condition that they are allowed to be there if, and only if, they do not open their mouths to spout Trumpist opinions while their superiors, the anti-Trumpers, are enjoying themselves.
Ten dollars says the family members found Karen Kimmel unbearable and cut her off first.
Think of the positives. It’s a perfect couple to put next to the Clinton’s in jail if they ever break the law.

I’m sorry but anyone on any side who tries to personally harass family members or friends into voting a certain way or not voting a certain way is a total idiot. We’re in a country of 350 million people. The votes of the family members and friends whom you can lobby are never going to be enough to affect the outcome of the election, so don’t even bother.

I chuckled at the hermit comment. I’ve almost reached full “hermithood” myself, and couldn’t be more content lol. I haven’t officially cut ties with friends, but contact has dwindled and I haven’t missed anything. I am close to family (live in a nice mobile we placed on my daughter’s farm), see the grandkids daily, and my son and his family live 10 minutes away.
Since the covid nonsense and now the TDS (which is severe in Canada), I can no longer be bothered trying to get people to see anything beyond what the news tells them. It’s just easier to play cards with the kids and do some knitting, baking, and take naps. Life is good.
Your life does sound good. You are blessed to be able to have grandchildren and see them often.

You are so right. I tried to get my late wife’s sister to stop angrily and annoyingly trying to “reform” the two of us to get us to reject Trump.
I told her even if maybe 15-20 relatives were changed over it would not affect any precinct let alone the 50 states.
