A holding pen that just one day earlier housed 300 ostriches now contains their tarp-covered bodies after officials carried out a slaughter late Thursday night.
The pen sits on the grounds of Universal Ostrich Farms in British Columbia, Canada, which has been locked in a legal battle with federal officials over a government‑ordered cull.
Witnesses said trucks and SUVs belonging to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) arrived at the farm, and several men were seen carrying equipment into the enclosures.
Around 6pm local time, the sound of repeated gunfire echoed across the property as supporters gathered outside, praying and shouting for the birds.
The CFIA began investigating the farm after receiving an anonymous report in December that alleged roughly 30 ostrich deaths within three weeks.
Subsequent testing confirmed two birds had contracted H5N1 avian influenza, a highly contagious strain of bird flu. Agency records showed ostrich deaths continued through mid‑January, ultimately totaling 69.
Katie Pasitney, daughter of farm owner Karen Pasitney, pleaded with the Supreme Court of Canada to halt the cull, insisting the birds were healthy and not a threat to public safety. But she and her family woke up Friday morning to their corpses littering the ground.
'They are all gone. They need to pay for this. The world needs to know the monsters they are,' Pasitney told Daily Mail. 'They brought war to our farm last night.. Just to kill healthy animals. When did we stop valuing life? You can't just keep killing everything.'
Hundreds of ostriches were wrangled inside a pen on the farm Thursday
The owners said they heard hundreds of gunshots overnight. More than 300 birds are dead, and their bodies are still in the pen under tarps
Daily Mail has contacted CFIA for comment.

Pro-life ping Morgana :(. This time regarding innocent animals.
And of course it’s Canada. Not surprised.
“officials.” Well, okay then.
Canada sucks
They killed those birds to get the feathers.
Once you start assisting death, it’s hard to stop.
Eggsecuted!
I had to...
Six weeks ago, I heard that the birds would not be killed.
“There must be some misunderstanding.
There must be some kind of mistake!”
Remember executing P’nut the Squirrel just helped Trump get elected. A heavy handed overreach by NY.
At some point people will start seeing their government as an enemy.
>> after infectious disease claims
Bird Flag laws
I doubt anyone will want those feathers.
It went to their highest court, and the court refused to hear the appeal.
I hope the ostriches held their heads up high to the end
It’s amazing how many Regime NPCs in Canada are cheering on this slaughter.
And ridiculing anyone who opposed it.
(BTW, the REgime refused to test the birds because they knew none of them were sick)
One thing this has done is to radicalize a further segment of the population who were happy enough to go along with what the Regime is doing, until now.
It smells like a “How Dare You Question my Authority!!” situation.
Reminds me of FDR 90 years ago who ordered millions of cattle and hogs to be shot and buried to get the price of meat UP. And that meat had to be buried, not given to the starving poor in the Great Depression.
Birds infected with bird can be eaten if properly cooked.
It’s all about making money on vaccines.
so worried about disease....then just let the bodies stay there.
smh
Yes. And also a message to any potential opposition...
“Canadian Govt to Kill 400 Ostriches to Prevent COVID Research
The owners of Universal Ostrich Farm in B.C., Canada, has a contract signed with a Japanese research firm to study treatments for COVID-19. Biomedical research of this nature would ruin the plan-demic powers Canada enjoyed, and as such, the government plans to kill all 400 ostriches at this farm after an extensive legal battle.....”
