Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer offered a new plan to Republicans that would allow the U.S. government to reopen after a shutdown that began on Oct. 1.
Schumer’s proposal calls for Democrats to agree to pass a so-called clean resolution that would provide short-term funding for government operations.
In exchange, Republicans would agree to a one-year extension of existing enhanced tax credits that are used to reduce the cost of health insurance purchased on Affordable Care Act marketplaces.

Next question?
How about “NO”.
NO!!!!!!!!
Well, at least they finally made their first offer !
(Redacted rant)
So now the Democrats and the media can say, “See the GOP could have opened the government and funded SNAP at any time but they instead chose to starve children”.
Has there ever been a time that the GOP didn’t fold even when in the majority and holding most of the cards?
“extension of existing enhanced tax credits that are used to reduce the cost of health insurance purchase”
Notice the propagandists at CNBC use the exact phrasing that would come the DNC. That is because they are the DNC.
No that is not a deal that is a cave
No free healthcare for illegals.
Nor SNAP, nor welfare, nor non-emergency medical care, nor housing subsidies, nor free cell phones, nor anything else they mooch off the American taxpayer........
I bet it gives illegals all the free health care they want, and I bet it also gives millions of funding for NPR and PBS too
But I thought negotiating was important...
Sorry Charlie....no...
The last time I can think of was mid 1990's and the Republican Congress held the line with the Contract with America and balancing the budget. (A shutdown argument more stringent then than now.)
No deal. A year from now they will demand another one year extension. The Democrats are in the minority. They have no place demanding more spending. Nuke the filibuster. It is being misused.
We ought to hold out for some cartridges so we can shoot ourselves in the head and tickets to the top of the Empire State Building so we can jump off in case we miss.
Schumer wanted to pass the ACA extensions in 2022 for two years so that it would become a campaign issue in the 2024 presidential election, but Joe Manchin wouldn't go for it and got Schumer to push it to 2025. As a compromise, Schumer believed that in 2025 the President and at least one chamber of Congress would be Democrat-controlled, so he agreed.
It turned out that President Trump beat Kamala Harris and Republicans took control of all of Congress, leaving Democrats with no power.
Now, Schumer's "deal" is to extend ACA credits to the 2026 mid-term election to give Democrats another campaign issue to run on against Republicans in the mid-term?
Schumer's goal is not to protect health care, it's to create a wedge issue that Democrats can use to retake Congress and stop Trump's agenda.
Don't fall for it.

To expire just in time for the mid terms. Nice try, Schmucky.
That’s not a ”clean” CR. But, I think the GOP already offered that once and they rejected it.
If Trump caves on this, his Presidency is going to be DOA so he has little choice but to push forward on the path he has chosen. This is a winner take all type of fight. .
It's getting to be about time for Trump to start playing his Trump cards by permanently eliminating Democrat government jobs and programs He has shown an amazing amount of patience and restraint but now is the time to start taking action.
