Are Americans Better or Worse Off Since January?
American Greatness ^ | 30 Oct, 2025 | Victor Davis Hanson

While the media fixates on Trump’s tweets, the numbers tell a different story—closed borders, lower inflation, revived energy, and restored U.S. strength at home and abroad.

The left wing and media rage hysterically from one Trump psychodrama to the next, while Trump trolls both on social media.

But all that is verbiage. What matters is the data and facts of Trump’s first nine months since January 20, 2025, in comparison to either Biden’s prior year or the averages of his four years in office.

Take the border. No one knows how many illegal aliens entered—or stayed in—the U.S. during Biden’s four years of open borders. What is clear is that he set a presidential record of well over seven million illegal entrants.

The border under Trump is now tightly closed. Prior to his administration, it was common for 10,000 people to cross illegally in a single day. In just nine months, approximately two million illegal aliens have been deported or self-deported. The rate of border crossings is now the lowest it’s ever been since 1970.

How about energy? For Trump’s first nine months, gas prices have averaged $3.19 versus Biden’s 2024 average of $3.30 a gallon. Over Biden’s four years, gas averaged $3.46 a gallon.

During the Biden years, oil production averaged 12.3 million barrels per day, compared to 13.5 million barrels during Trump’s first nine months. Biden removed 200 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, leaving office with only 394 million barrels in the SPR.

The reserve has already inched upward under Trump’s initial months to 406 million barrels. Releases have been cancelled. Purchases of replacement oil have been scheduled.

Regarding the economy, Biden’s four years averaged 2.9 percent GDP growth per annum.

Trump’s GDP rose 3.8 percent in the second quarter

If you are a working citizen or producer within the American society yes.

If you are a parasite no.

Happier for sure that we have President Trump and his very talented team.

P***** at Dems for playing their games.

I’d say they are worse off with the RAT bass turds claiming that every day the government is shutdown is a great day for the DemonRATS. King Hakeem is cheering the government shut down. Senator Warner is claiming that all of the government employees are beginning him to keep the government shut down. Chunky Shoomer is telling them to eat their cheeseburgers raw. The leftwing “media” is now encouraging the wards of the government freeloaders to start stealing food at the local supermarkets. The pig Biden should have taken this food crisis into consideration before inviting 25 million freeloading foreigners to eat their meals in America FREE!

I’m not optimistic that the damage done by the Dims can ever be fully repaired. Glad to have them reduced to a minority role in FedGov, though

Is this an actual thread on Free Republic? I’ve lost count of how many posters are on here on the daily, taking time every hour, to regale us with how President Trump is a failure.

It’s nice to see some sanity posted on here rather than endless “tRuMp iS iN tHe ePsTEiN FiLeS” garbage on Free Republic.

The only negative are groceries. Went to Publix yesterday and bought necessities and spent 150. Three bags. But otherwise things are great.

This summer was one of the slowest in our area for the food, dessert and beverage industry. Hopefully things brighten up soon but it seems like people are cutting back a lot and so far this fall, it has been dismal. Our business is down, our competitors and friends business is down. Not uncommon to see better restaurants nearly empty after 8:30 on Thursday’s and Fridays , even if they have a bar. These places were packed until 10 pm just a couple years ago.

Customers I talk to are worried and uncertain about where the economy is going. Hopefully we can get some stability once the tariff situations are worked out.

Averages are stupid at this phase.

I don’t care about the well being of the 20M illegals. Deport all of them now. Watch prices go down on everything.

Pretty much the same about the 50M visa holders.

That leaves about 10-20M dimwits who voted (actually VOTED) for BeijingBiden and Harris. On them I care even less.

The remainder are just hunkering down and staying at work. They have lives and kids to take care of.

It takes time to turn the country away from the direction that Sleepy Ioe has the country on.

The never Trump wing of the Republican party is alive and well here. The jabs at Trump are endless. The same Republican party hacks would have been A-OK with the likes of Jeb Bush. No joke. Lots of posers....And why I visit here way less nowadays.

Personally I'm better off.

Then again I moved from California to Tennessee in April too.

Despite everything that’s happening, I feel the same as before, well, but I also feel more confident about the future.

Yes, the Never Trumpers are completely insufferable.

Every president has flaws, but to endlessly crap on everything President Trump has accomplished and is attempting is truly the definition of a circular firing squad.

Tough.

I feel they took advantage of the mess and jacked their prices up too much.

The frogs have noticed the quicker increase in temperature and are jumping out!

After a modest dinner costing over a hundred bucks, who has money for the bar :(
