Zohran Mamdani on course to win NYC mayor’s race — despite majority of residents disagreeing with policies he supports: poll

Zohran Mamdani has enough support to win the mayoral election by just 15 points – and without the majority of votes — despite New Yorkers largely disagreeing with his progressive policies, a poll released Tuesday found.

The lefty Democratic nominee’s 43% support to Andrew Cuomo’s 28% in the new Manhattan Institute poll is a wider margin than late-game recent surveys showing a narrowing gap between the candidates.

But the survey found that if Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa — in a distant third place, with 19% support — were to drop out, the race would narrow considerably.

“In hypothetical head-to-head matchups, Mamdani’s lead narrows but endures,” the poll states.

“Against Cuomo, he holds a 44–40% edge—mainaining a small advantage but leaving the former governor within striking distance. Against Sliwa, by contrast, Mamdani retains a 47–33% lead, reflecting both the city’s partisan lean and Sliwa’s limited appeal.”

The poll from the 600 likely voters surveyed last week also noted a “striking dissonance” between Mamdani’s electoral strength and actual support for his socialist dreams.

Voter apathy elects unfettered progressives. It’s that simple

People in NYC have a long love-affair with the letter “D.”

Agreed. He’s delusional if he thinks he has any chance of winning.

25 years ago I criticized New York for it’s rapid decline into a third world country.

I was forced to undergo Psychological Counseling, as if I were the crazy one.

25 years later, the city is voting in a muslim socialist for mayor.

Momdani’s support is unshakable but demographically narrow.

Cuomo is incapable of generating anything resembling excitement in the electorate.

A relatively large turnout, if it happens, and it seems to be happening, will probably benefit Curtis Sliva most.

You are 100% correct. A small and dedicated minority will push their agenda thru, almost every time because of exactly that.

If so, wasted votes.

My question is:... "How does a FAR LEFT RADICAL get elected in a virtual, yet to happen landslide, when most of the voting constituency DISAGREES with him and his ideas?"( It sure makes one WONDER! )

New Yorkers:

Which would you prefer to be bitten by:
A: A Saw Scaled Viper
B: A Russel’s Viper.

The choice between Mamdani and Cuomo is about the same.
....................

As Hillary says: “What Difference, At This Point, Does It Make???

New York City is a lost cause; beyond redemption. Even if by some miracle Sliwa was elected, it would only slightly slow the descent into Perdition.

Best to get out now, before you need a Snake Plisskin to get you out.

He’s delusional if he thinks he has any chance of winning.

You can say the same about Cuomo.

Cuomo already lost to Mamdani in June.

Time for Cuomo to step aside and give Curtis a chance.
