A Michigan middle schooler courageously disarmed a gun-carrying classmate, but was expelled when he failed to alert a teacher immediately, his furious mother claimed.
Sakir, a seventh grader at the Dwight Rich School of the Arts, allegedly spotted his classmate carrying the gun during the school day and jumped into action to protect his peers, according to reports.
“Sakir’s instinct was not to run away — it was to protect his classmates,” according to a GoFundMe set up for the young student and his family. “…preventing what could have been an unimaginable tragedy.”
However, Everett was accused of possession of a weapon and banned from the middle school.
“They kicked him out of school for the whole year,” the boy’s mother, Savitra McClurkin, told local outlet WILX on Friday.
The heroic 11-year-old’s actions unfolded back in May, but he didn’t tell his teachers out of fear of getting in trouble. It was not clear when he received the punishment.
“He didn’t want to implicate himself in it, nor did he want to tell on the person that actually brought the firearm,” McClurkin said. “Because he knows firearms aren’t supposed to be in school.”
Everett credited his hunting background for his knowledge of safely taking the gun apart.
Sakir is an “A/B student” and is active in sports at the public magnet school, according to the crowdfunding page.
The frustrated mother blasted the Lansing School District for kicking her son out of the school.

Michigan Commies gonna Commie...
Liberals always overreach.
I’m going to enjoy the blowback on this.
Sakir! LOL! Yeah, Right.
This is what happens when Communists are in charge.
So he was expelled for stopping his classmate from shooting up the place. I guess that gets in the way of the gun grabbers’ agenda.
No good deed goes unpunished.
It really doesn’t matter what the topic is. You can always count on school administrators to do the wrong thing.
It might be different in suburban or rural school districts. But in the big city school district where I taught, it was guaranteed. It was like living in a bizzaro world.
Are “Sakir” and “Everett” the same person? What’s up with that? And there’s a GoFundMe account involved with this? Seems as if there’s more to this story.
If this is all true, it describes one of the very few times I would consider donating to a GoFundMe.
The Mom is making a practical decision to make all of this pubic, so that any school he tries to enroll in will already have knowledge of exactly why he was expelled from his former school. Whoever made the decision to expel this kid is stupid and seems to be showing a curious sort of bias.
Anybody figure out what is going on here? Who the hell is Everett? I’ve read this three times.
When the left is in charge, they love to see school shootings. It gives them the opportunity for endless sound bites against guns and 2A supporters. It’s why the only thing they’ll do to protect our children is to post gun free zone signs in schools.
I wonder when Sakir the Wonder Boy does all the hunting and what is it he hunts? This article is a joke. A real clown show.
“So he was expelled for stopping his classmate from shooting up the place. “
I take from the article that he was expelled because he didn’t report the incident to a teach soon enough, because he was afraid he would get in trouble, which he did.
I believe expulsion for not reporting in a timely manner is excessive.
What’s more plausible? This story or that Sakir was the one with the gun, bragged about it, then got caught and makes up a story about some other kid and how he saved the day. Without ever bragging about it (the kid is 11, he has to bragg).
The kids name in full is “Sakir Everett”
+100
The kids full name is “Sakir Everett”.
Bingo. You hit the nail on the head.
