'Israel is not committing genocide in Gaza,' UK government concludes
Jerusalem Post ^ | September 8, 2025 | Mathilda Heller

The British Government has determined that Israel is not committing genocide in Gaza, Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy told the chair of the international development committee in a letter on September 1.

This differs significantly from the government’s previous position, which was that only courts can decide whether Israel is or is not committing genocide. It also marks the first time the UK government has stated explicitly that Israel’s actions in Gaza do not count as genocide.

In the letter to Sarah Champion, Lammy, who was foreign secretary at the time of writing, acknowledged that the UK government has the duty to prevent genocide under Article I of the Genocide Convention (1948) if it believes there is a serious risk of it occurring.

This position is in line with the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the case concerning the Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

The UK government carefully considered the risk of genocide in Gaza during its preparations for the Al-Haq vs. F-35 court case, Lammy said.

They committed an act of war. They are now dealing with the consequences. They can surrender utterly or die.

Exactly-

This is another case where one side at least initially won the PR war but they are not the innocent victims of unprovoked aggression where the other side is committing “genocide.”

The media uses a lot of emotionally laden words or phrases that are not tied to any physical facts.

Sadly it works. Generally speaking, when it’s emotions vs. reason, emotions win.

Trying to figure out the logic of this...

What the UK government is doing to the native British is textbook genocide.

Punt. Because courts are equipped to run countries now.

it works the other way sometimes. I am normally willing to listen to both (or more) sides on matters on matters related to Israel. But when the uncontradicted facts of October 7 hit me, I lost interest. The perpetrators are monsters. You will not be able to destroy them, but you must inflict enough damage to make anyone think twice before doing it again. My reaction is primarily emotional, but emotion rooted in conscience and decency is not always a bad thing. As long as the facts are conveyed. Those monster still have hostages, so there has not been sufficient punishment.

I’m stunned by this announcement. One would expect a Maoist government like this one to conclude the exact opposite.

The world knows this but Hamas doesn’t accept it neither does its supporters, like the UN.

My guess is the trade deal. The Brits wanted to keep their trade deal without Trump raising their tariffs.

England has always hated Israel and Jews. When they left Israel in 1948 after being reborn, the UK turned all their weaponry over to the Arabs (not called Palestinians yet). The Jews actually built an ammunition factory underground so the Brits wouldn’t know they had one.

The UK government concludes this after virtually every British media outlet has spent the past couple years parroting Hamas propaganda.

The Israelis are not going street by street thru the Gaza strip with tank mounted flame throwers & machine gunning anything that moves.

If the Israelis had wanted to wage a genocidal war, the “war” wouldn’t have lasted only a matter of a few weeks. The fact that ANY Palestinian is currently alive indicates that there is no genocide involved.

I'm stunned by this announcement

Why so? Starmer has always been pro-Israeli. One of his first acts on becoming Labour leader was to purge the Parliamentary party of the anti-Semite Corbynite left. Worth noting that he's married to a Jew and his children are being raised as observant Jews.

That doesn't mean, of course, that he's never critical of Israeli policy or actions.

I'm stunned because today's Labour is a proudly Maoist party and Maoists worldwide despise Israel and everything she represents.
