LONDON (AP) — The Netherlands added itself Friday to a list of countries pressuring organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest to drop Israel from the contest because of its war in the Gaza Strip.
Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, one of dozens of public broadcasters that collectively fund and broadcast the contest, said it would not take part in next year’s competition in Vienna if Israel participates “given the ongoing and severe human suffering in Gaza.”
“The broadcaster also expresses deep concern about the serious erosion of press freedom: the deliberate exclusion of independent international reporting and the many casualties among journalists,” it said in a statement.

Earlier this week, Hollywood stars joined 3,000 other industry figures to sign a pledge to boycott Israeli film institutions — including festivals, broadcasters and production companies — that are “implicated in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people,” according to the group Film Workers for Palestine.
Russia was banned from Eurovision after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 but Israel has continued to compete the past two years despite disputes over its participation.
Dozens of former participants, including 2024 winner Nemo Mettler (Switzerland), have called for Israel to be excluded over its conduct in the war against Hamas in Gaza. Pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel protests took place around this year’s contest in Basel, Switzerland, though on a much smaller scale than the 2024 event in Sweden.
With politics from the war casting a shadow over the contest, Israeli singer Yuval Raphael finished second this year to Austria’s JJ in the exuberant celebration of pop music.

The global Left shows its colours by being against Israel in this global war. Israel and Taiwan could be the world's Big Two of Unrecognised Nations thanks to the Left's activism.

It took me some time living abroad to understand just how huge Eurovision is for people overseas…is Russia even allowed to send anyone right now?
Still haven’t tuned in though.
The Netherlands is now roughly 7% Muslim. A study by Dr. Peter Hammond found that when a country’s Muslim population reaches 5%, they start to demand more and more. And they will include threats if they don’t get their way.
Just sayin’.
I don’t like the idea of a boycott.
That said, why is Israel ever in Eurovision? Israel is NOT a European country.

Something just occurred to me. The Netherlands is where Jewish girl Anne Frank and her family hid out from the Nazis. Eventually they were betrayed.
Today’s Nazis are the Muslims.
Do the Dutch people remember what happened to Anne Frank? Do they remember the massacre of Oct. 7, 2023?
Let’s just get rid of Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, them whiny Pali “journalists” and EEWWWrovision all at once, Jewish singers can do fine in Israel.
Is Waterloo the only well-known song to come out of that contest? I’ve never paid much attention to it.
Many say the same thing about Australia participating, but they still do anyway. No one has invented a more local choice for this big contest.
