2 facts about Charlie Kirk’s killer are VERY rare in the modern history of assassinations…
1) Firing ONLY one shot & it being perfect
2) Eluding capture until at least nightfall that day
I would be willing to bet that this was not this killer’s 1st rodeo, & he may be a “pro.”
If they had the satellites positioned to view this, probably. But then that brings up another question.
...yelling he did it...smokescreen...
Could be, it also could be that the cheese slid off his cracker.
I knew a guy that was always a bit odd but seemed grounded in reality until one day he started ranting about the sadness he was experiencing from catching all the squirrels on fire with his eye beams.
There are a number of things that can have someone entirely stable on Tuesday and seemingly entirely detached by Wednesday. I know someone that after an injury had one part of their brain constantly remembering and being able to see false events in their mind even though other parts of the mind were yelling that that memory was false. Not quite the same as a hallucination, the person knows an event didnt actually happen but the ability to think of the event is somehow recorded in the memory as real and yet somehow the experience is different than remembering a dream.
“I don’t think it was a pro. A somewhat competent shooter who probably had never practiced shooting down hill, which will make the shot go high.”
Ding ding ding we have a winner. From 8+ stories up shooting down and across a couple hundred yards will make a sited rifle shoot 3-4 inches high from a level 200 yard zero your typical ooutside rifle range lane length. Gravity is well universal. For really long distance you not only have to factor ,gravity but coriolis, humidity, and temperature too all affect the air density. They were aiming at his chest and shot high no professional shooter aims for the neck it’s always center of mass or the CNS aka the T shot with the top of the T being a line connecting the eyes and the nose and mouth being the | of the T this hits the brain stem from the front and it’s only used in hostage situations where an armed gunman has a weapon in a hostage and only under 300 meters by a highly trained SRT or SWAT operative. From the side it’s aim for the ear holes and from the back it is draw a line between the ears and shoot for the middle of that again it’s a last resort shot for SRT all other professional shots are center of mass always everyday all the time it’s drilled into you in the academy.
Point is this was a high hit by a amateur with some shooting skills who didn’t take into account the gravity velocity gain of a downward trajectory.
That appears to be the case. The bullet appears to be a heavy .308 caliber and impacts his upper right chest and the spalling bullet ricochets up into his neck. In one still shot you can see the spalled round penetrate a whole in his t-shirt on the neck line as he was leaning back.
Inexcusable that access was so easy there.
After seeing the video, that was my exact thought.
It looked like it completely ripped open his jugular. Not a nick either that could have been repaired.
Ditto for the university, any university above micro-size should provide drone monitoring for any outdoor event as part of their general security package. The cost is minimal.
Question
Was he shot under a tent?
Sorry but don’t want to watch the video
“Yes, Charlie was wearing a bulletproof vest but if you’ve got a rifle, you’re not too concerned about that vest.”
.
An early vest shot was to the shoulder of a state trooper. It proved fatal, but the bullet was fired from a 45-70 caliber rifle.
(Big and powerful black powder cartridge.)
Name one political assassination that was done by a “professional” hit man. A person that makes his living doing assassinations. Even the Mafia doesn’t have killers waiting around for a hit job.
How does anyone, pro or not, evade the net of cameras that exists everywhere today?
Prediction: when they find the gunman, he will be dead and his life “scrubbed”.
Yes, from foreign intelligence agencies. I guess you could add Bandera and Trotsky to your list, but those guys were one offs like yours. Not trained assassins just sitting around waiting for a job.
small ones, in many accounts, would fly under radar
Like a burqa on a Rio beach I guess.
