Nearly a year after his son’s tragic killing, John Sisneros, Sr. told KOB 4 that his life has stopped in its tracks. He wants the public to know the killer is still at-large.
In November 2024, Albuquerque awoke to heartbreaking news. At 8:30 a.m. someone walked into Por Vida Tattoo and Coffee Shop and shot John “Bael” Sisneros.
His family said that the shooting took place in front of one of his children. His father, Sisneros, Sr. is still seeking answers, even as Albuquerque Police Department say the detective on the case is on vacation.
“My life has stopped,” said Sisneros, Sr. “It stopped; it no longer exists.”
Bael was known to his family and friends as a kind, creative soul — and gone entirely too soon.
“It’s just so hard to be around people that are constantly giving me my—their—condolences,” he said, sitting in front of his son’s large marble memorial that showed pictures of him throughout his life. “It’s just been rough. My son was such a good man.”
In the days that followed, thousands from the Albuquerque community came together to honor Sisneros on Fourth Street and Coal near his shop downtown.
Despite pleas to the public from the FBI and CrimeStoppers, his family has seen zero developments in the case. No suspects. No arrests made.
As of Tuesday, the case remains unsolved. Sisneros, Sr. told us that they’ve been frustrated with the apparent lack of urgency from APD.
When we reached out to APD for an update on the case, we were informed that the detective was on vacation.
Sisneros, Sr. says the detective assigned to the case hasn’t been as communicative with the family as they’d like and went on vacation on the week she was assigned the case.
Meanwhile, CrimeStoppers suggest calling their tip line at (505) 843-STOP (7867) or text ‘ABQCS’ to 738477. A spokesperson for the FBI is still encouraging those who know anything — no matter how small — to come forward and share what they know or have seen.
“To preserve the integrity and capabilities of the investigation, I cannot share details of the ongoing process,” said FBI Albuquerque Spokesperson Margot Cravens. “We appreciate the public’s attention to our case and continue to encourage those with information, even if they’re not certain of its value, to come forward.”
Sisneros, Sr. echoed their statement.
“This coward that took my son’s life needs to be caught,” he said. “If anybody out there has sons, brothers, you know, nephews, friends that they love like I love my son, please contact APD.”
Tattoo AND coffee shop?
My guess is that no one is talking ala gang hit
There’s a lot of information missing from this article. If the kid saw what happened, why is there no description of the perp? Was robbery a motive? How old was the victim? They tell us nothing.
Where do people get countless thousands of dollars to squander on tattoos? Mostly stupid ones? People on all kinds of welfare/EBT/etc. get them too. In fact they get more tatts than the middle class.
An MD who wants a good independent business? Go into laser tattoo removals.
Tatoos are not cool, they are ugly, tramp stamps.
Isn’t “Bael” one of the Canaanite false gods or demons?
That’s Ba’al, but close enough
Tattoo shop ... It’s not like a church or a library. Why are they surprised and angry?
You can pick one or think of other possibilities.
What you say makes sense, but it does mean that asking the public for information is rather a wasted effort. But oh well. Presumably there are things in play we cannot know about.
Hopefully that is the case, but I won’t hold my breath. 😁
Drugs?
The detective went on vacation. No one else available to investigate a MURDER!
He seems to have been a nice guy and a real go getter.
Maybe a robbery.
