Democrat Rep. Delia Ramirez (IL) sparked controversy after reportedly declaring at the second annual Panamerican Congress held in Mexico that she is a proud Guatemalan before she is an American.
Ramirez, whose husband is a DACA recipient and defines her marriage as "mixed-status" on a campaign website, apparently made the controversial remarks this past weekend at what the Daily Caller has described as a "radical" summit organized by the director of an "anti-American organization."
“I’m a proud Guatemalan before I’m an American,” she told the group while speaking in Spanish, according to the outlet's translation.
The Daily Caller informs us that they "confirmed the translation of her statement with multiple Spanish speakers."
In addition to those controversial remarks, it is reported that Ramirez denigrated the United States for being “addicted to war" and accused the country in which she works as a public servant of using "imperialism, militarization, conquest, control, competition in its attempt at domination.”
The White House fired back in response to the Democrat congresswoman's alleged comments, as well as the appearance of other high-profile Squad members, Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), calling them "despicable."
“These Democrats’ comments are despicable and underscore their commitment to putting Americans last,” White House spokesperson Liz Huston said, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “In stark contrast, President Trump is working tirelessly to secure peace deals, deport illegal alien criminals, and advance America’s interests at home and abroad.”
In addition to that statement, the Department of Homeland Security issued a response of sorts, quoting Teddy Roosevelt.
“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism," the quote reads. "Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United...”

Guatemala in in North America. Get a glob.
Sra. Ramirez is a Guate-muymuchomal-an.
They are not American, but in our ignorance and political correctness we place them before our own. They are not appreciative, but we give them more precedence than our own children. They intend to change us and replace us and we say yes! We are awful.
This will not end well.
Anybody in North or South America is American. They aren’t U.S. Let’s be accurate.
They need to drop kick these non-allegiants out of congress.
They shouldn’t be allowed to usurp the country.
It’s an invasion.
Get them out!
Mid-Terms.
The American Act.
“No person shall hold elected office in the federal government having been found as having preferential allegiance or dual citizenship to a foreign power.”
I wonder if she could even spell the name of the country that conquested Guatemala along with S. America? That's right, those imperialists called S-P-A-I-N.
What an ignorant fool and an outright bigot.
So SHE wins. And Trump LOSES. Even worse, so do we. ANOTHER democrat victory over The Stable Genius. He's awesome, isn't he?
You deserve Kamala.
Wouldn’t it be up to the House instead?
As somebody said, the most proud Latinos are those who won’t live in any Latino country.
With Mike “I love black boys (and so does my wife)” Johnson?
Any security clearance she has needs to be pulled. Then she needs to be very closely investigated/ monitored.
Closing the border, sending illegals back home, lowering taxes, replacing “free trade” with fair trade, low inflation and record setting business investment doesn’t matter to you but not removing Ramirez from office yet, after less than 4 days from her making those comments does? That only proves that you’re an idiot.
You belong over at DU.
She violated her oath of office. Strip her citizenship, kick her out of Congress, and deport her.
Not really, just a patriot.
