The fresh crew includes NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, Kimiya Yui of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Oleg Platonov of Roscosmos.
SpaceX delivered a new crew to the International Space Station on Saturday in a 15-hour trip from NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
The astronauts will be in space for at least six months. The current crew is expected to return to Earth by Wednesday, .
Hard to believe it took our “greatest minds” this long to figure out that government control is wholly unsuitable to this endeavor. Or most ANY endeavor.
So, none of the Kardashians are going on this space mission?
Government control works great when there is a clear objective, a tight, well defined chain of command, strong leadership and unlimited funds. Otherwise, not so good.
This is a real space mission, not a glorified carnival ride.
Government hardly ever governs well. The one thing they are supposed to do, they suck at.
Giving them any other tasks to do is even more stupid.
The Kardashians would have been useful in balloon travel when ballast has to go. I think one or two would double as floats if you went down over water.
“In space no one can hear your current guy’s rap music.”
epic takedown
Did they get Biscoff cookies on the flight?
The government is still paying for this. That nine billion in savings is being blown by this type of spending.
Fun fact, Dragon is the only spacecraft with 100% launch to orbit safe abort capabilities. There is no coffins corner like every other spacecraft flown before it even with escape towers in the Apollo era there was always a gap between when you dump the escape tower and MECO.
Dragon carries it’s abort capabilities with it the whole time and at any point can push itself off the stack and away from the blast zone. Then depending on where it is in the trajectory use it’s Super Drago rockets to boost to minimum orbit for a once around, fair bit is turning immediately for a controlled entry window, or coast on a ballistic path then do a lifting reentry to control G’s and landing eclipse for spashdown or in a extreme emergency a landing on land with a retro burn right before impact since there is no airbags like starliner. NASA said no to active propulsive landings but the fuel, engines , software and sensors are there they tested it unmanned so they know it works. Dragon is also the only spacecraft capable of a no parachute fully propulsive landing in dry land.
Needless to say NASA got puckered with the idea of a capsule coming in at mach 20 slowing to just supersonic and a couple thousands feet up and using the Super Dragos to slow to a hover in a suicide burn for landing. Dragon can do it NASA won’t let them. It’s a bad look if the Dragos don’t light off in time.
I wondered if I was the only one that noticed.
What we need is a detailed Inspector General report dissecting the cost vs benefit of this particular mission.
I have my views on what I think they would find—but I would be willing to change them if the data showed otherwise.
(Hint: I think the mission is a total waste of taxpayers dollars.)
It looks like a giant dildo.

DING! DING! DING! "What do we have for her, Johnny?"
Meanwhile Jeff Bezos’s Flying Dildo took some people on a suborbital flight.
How does NASA have jurisdiction over specific ways private companies accomplish their missions?
I understand the FAA having rules over air travel as the sheer volume of flights and intersecting traffic requires an orderly system, but space flight is still emerging technology that shouldn’t be constrained by overweening bureaucracy for the sheer sake of power plays.
If the saying “Lead, follow or get out of the way” doesn’t apply here I couldn’t think of a more apt situation. NASA, currently riddled with DEI doofs taking up oxygen and tax money, should not be interfering with developmental technologies most have little clue about.
The current crew is expected to return to Earth by Wednesday.
So did the last crew but it took a year.
SNAFU’s happen
