Trump officials vow to intensify immigration raids despite legal challenges, bad polls, public backlash

The Trump Administration immigration sweeps that have roiled Southern California have shown no signs of slowing despite lawsuits, a court order and growing signs the aggressive actions are not popular with the public.

The operations, which began in early June in the Los Angeles area, largely focused on small-scale targets like car washes, strip malls and Home Depot parking lots before authorities hit their biggest target last week — two farms for one of the largest cannabis companies in California. One worker died after falling from a green house roof during the raid while 361 others were arrested.

Responding to the death, Border Czar Tom Homan called the situation “sad.”

“It’s obviously unfortunate when there’s deaths,” he told CNN. “No one wants to see people die.”

“He wasn’t in ICE custody,” Homan said. “ICE did not have hands on this person.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said authorities plan to intensify immigration crackdowns thanks to more funding from the recently passed “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” spending plan from Congress.

The budget bill infuses roughly $150 billion into Trump’s immigration and border enforcement plans, including funding for ICE and Border Patrol staffing, building and operating immigrant detention facilities and billions to reimburse states and local governments for immigration related costs.

“We’re going to come harder and faster, and we’re going to take these criminals down with even more strength than we ever have before,” she said at a press conference over the weekend. Trump, she added, “has a mandate from the American people to clean up our streets, to help make our communities safer.”

But there are some signs that support might be slipping.

The businesses that hire illegals should also be penalized: all the equivalent salaries for these illegals should be confiscated from the businesses themselves and use to pay for deportation. Any extra costs should come out of rthe management’s own pockets

I agree with Tom, someone dies , and that’s sad no matter what . Damn it ,wish they would have had him in custody and safe before that happened. And what happened to that dude who beat down an older gentleman who was walking with his hands up towards the ICE direction I saw .. WTAF!

That's the 800 lb gorilla in the room, businesses that enable illegals get a free pass and pay no penalty for it. I live in east central Mississippi and there are a lot of chicken processing plants around me. They've been openly employing illegals for 30 years and nothing has ever been done. They absolutely know they're illegals, the government knows it, everyone around here knows it, yet nothing has ever been done about it other than some token raids to make the news then they're all back on the job in a week. That can only happen if the government officials in charge of policing this are in on it. It has to stop, it needed to stop 30 years ago. Throw the owners of these companies in jail for a long time and this crap will stop.

I assume that some businesses want to hire Americans at decent wages.

But you can't do that if your competition is paying low wages.

Meat processing places are the worst.

It is a hard, dirty, dangerous, tiring and very low paid job.

It exploits the illegals too.

We should get the owners prosecuted. This will increase prices but it will help both citizens abd illegal immigrants

Bad polls? Public backlash? These press folks need to leave the blue states more often. Most people are cheering this, especially legal migrants.

There is public backlash but it is comprised of illegal aliens.

The “bad polls and public backlash” is only in the far left sanctuary states and cities. Imho, the rest of the country that has common sense supports the deportations. Screw the left, they caused this problem.

The usual lies, BS and propaganda. The public overwhelmingly supports mass deportation. The support for deporting illegal alien criminals is off the charts.
