Fuel to the engines of the Air India plane involved in a deadly crash was cut off moments after take-off, a preliminary investigation report has found.
In recovered cockpit voice recordings, the report said one of the pilots can be heard asking "why did you cut off?" - to which the other pilot replied he "did not do so".
The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed less than a minute after taking off on 12 June from Ahmedabad airport in western India, killing 260 people, most of them passengers. One British national miraculously survived the crash.
The investigation led by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is expected to produce a more detailed report in 12 months...

wow
I only know what has been reported.
Gotcha
“There is no way remote control can move those switches.”
Depends how the switches are monitored. If there’s a camera and it’s seen that the someone reached up, then definitely it was not a hack. If, however, the switches feed into a computer that then processes the switch throw, then there is room for both hacking and making it look like a person was involved (for example, if only the computer is monitored, rather than the physical switch, then hacking is possible).
My guess is that the ‘technology’ gurus that design these planes monitor the computer state, rather than the physical switch (as that would take more wires driving up the cost of their unionized labor). So a hack is possible, but given the voice recording, very unlikely.
“There is no procedure at all to ever cut off fuel— other than for an engine fire, overheat, failure, etc.”
Would still make sense to cut it off if about to crash land. After all, my car cuts off its fuel pump if I crash it.
Please read Post #23, from Obadiah, The switches must be most PHYSICALLY because of a designed safety overlock feature. That is the ONLY way they can be moved.
If it made sense, there would be some procedure for it. There is none.
…..moved PHYSICALLY….
That wasn’t an “error”. That was deliberate. It was murder/suicide.
“If it made sense, there would be some procedure for it.”
Tell that to the Max pilots.
“Please read Post #23, from Obadiah, The switches must be most PHYSICALLY because of a designed safety overlock feature. That is the ONLY way they can be moved.”
If it’s confirmed that the switches did physically move, then yes, it would have to be intentional and intended to crash the plane. I’m just pointing out that monitoring systems are not necessarily linked to the position of switches.
And Krishna forbid that the chicken vindaloo gets loose before cruising altitude has been reached.
Best for all to read the you tube post. It has the Indian Air ministry 16 page report, pictures, cut offs, a severely destroyed FDR ( Fwd Data Recorder), etc..report linked.

They control the fuel pumps. Place them in the off position, and fuel stops, ending the engines running. How hard is that?
. As you can see, it takes MANUAL, PHYSICAL movement to place the switches off. That is a design feature to make sure in cannot be turned off any other way.
Thanks
Those 2 black balls are the fuel shutoff. There’s a built in detent that makes you pull out and then switch them to the “off” setting. It’s a very deliberate action and the design makes inadvertent actuation virtually impossible. Turning those switches at that moment of the takeoff cycle is the worst possible moment to do so. This suggests deliberate action.

Actually, they do not control the fuel pumps. They only control the fuel flow. There are separate switches for the fuel pumps.
Names of the pilots please.
