Supreme Court agrees to hear cases on transgender athletes

Just over two weeks after the Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s ban on the use of puberty blockers and hormone therapy for transgender minors, the justices agreed to take up another high-profile issue involving transgender people – specifically, the constitutionality of laws that bar transgender women and girls from participating on girls’ and women’s sports teams. In a list of orders released on Thursday morning, the court granted a pair of petitions filed by Idaho and West Virginia, seeking review of lower-court rulings that barred them from enforcing such laws.

Idaho was the first state to enact such a ban in 2020. Lindsay Hecox, a transgender woman who wanted to try out for the Boise State University women’s track and cross-country teams, went to federal court in April 2020 to block the state from applying the ban to her. She argued that the Idaho law violates both Title IX, a federal civil rights law that bars sex discrimination in educational programs and activities that receive federal funding, and the Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection.

A federal district court agreed that Hecox was likely to succeed on her claims and barred the state from enforcing the law against her. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upheld that ruling, agreeing that the law likely violates the Constitution.

I agree. The foolishness should have stopped way before it reached any court, much less the Supreme Court. I felt the same way about the cases decided last week on mutilations of children and school trans indoctrination.

She was definitely lying to comply with the RATS on the committee. An honest person would have just answered the question, not pretended she was ignorant, stating you had to be a biologist in order to know the difference between male and female. The Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee that voted to confirm this slug should be flogged to death.

You immediately dismissed and dehumanized the .001% as “crazy.” You don’t dehumanize people you have an ounce of compassion for; aka you hate them.

I get it. People in the media like to conflate the drag queens grinding in kids faces with the .001%. Meanwhile, the .001% wants nothing to do with them.

For example, people born with Swyers Syndrome have a damaged Y chromosome. They are born with XY chromosomes and a vagina. If they are raised as a female, see themselves as female, their family and friends always, from birth, regarded them as female, are they crazy for living as a female?

Or what about boys with Klinefelters? They have XXY chromosomes. They are more female than male at the cellular level. Are they crazy for living as a male?

Like it or not, there are people born this way. These, and several other conditions, represent the .001%.

They are not evil, groomed, satanic, or some of the other outrageous descriptions we see on-line.

Lost in the trans-”trender” insanity are actual people who were born this way. The rabid “trans” movement has made life harder, not easier, on the .001%.

What you present is both correct and important, but one needs to go further and point out that there are at least a half-dozen categories of cross-dressing individuals whose conditions tend to get conflated by the general public, thus leading to much of the confusion and stupidity in policy on this issue:

1) Chromosomally-aberrent intersex individuals - those with XXY, XXXY, etc chromosomes (exceedingly rare)

2) Those I would characterize as exhibiting ‘classical’ gender dysphoria - those who from a very early age have suffered a strong and persistent discomfort with their biological sexual identity (also exceedingly rare)

3). Individuals who have developed a condition called “autogynophilia” - it’s in Wikipedia, but it’s essentially male narcissists who’ve so fallen in love with a female image of themselves that they turn themselves into that image (see for example Biden’s surgeon general - and I’m suspicious of Bruce/Kaitlyn Jenner as well)

4). Cross-dressing homosexual exhibitionists (my favorite from ‘Crocodile Dundee’: “That’s no Sheila !” - there’s also the butler / nightclub torch singer ‘Jarvis’ from one the ‘Pink Panther’ flics)

5). Psychologically-troubled adolescents who’ve gotten caught up in the current fad of “sudden-onset transgenderism”, who look to that movement as a simple approach to overcoming their difficulties (which is why we’ve gone from one trangender clinic to over 400 such clinics in just a couple of decades).

6) “Munchausen’s Transgenderism by Proxy” in which a parent or parents advertise their concern and sensitivity by foisting transgender behavior on kids too young to even appreciate gender differences (ever wonder why actors Carrie and David Grant have 3 - three! - transgender kids?)

and then there’s

7 transgenderism by convenience - guys who’ll pretend they’re girls for a chance to become competitive in some sport, or achieve a better situation in a women’s prison, or the like.

I have sympathy for folks in the first two categories - but those are very different circumstances than the ones that follow.
