When this all settles, I suspect we’ll find massive, massive fraud and theft in the blue states. That’s not to say the Rs are honest (I believe a few of them are) but the scale of corruption that is unfolding is far beyond individual greed. It is a criminal operation of the highest level.

Hi Ms.B!

I haven’t budged either! Too darn cold out there, and I am petrified of falling on the ice and snow. I’m sure getting a lot of naps under my belt!

Is this MsB’s stove…she’s one of our shorty gals - how do you reach all those pans? Or is that why God gave you a hubby?

That is a cool stove. Is it an older family treasure?

Years ago my first time living in NC we had a woodstove in basement…open air to back yard and wood piled on patio under deck. Hubby put in vents to get heat to living quarters upstairs. Id occasionally cook stews or soups on it but the steps to kitchen a deterrent. But then i was young 30s/40s and now i wouldnt use at all

Right now our sleepy county is facing a major controversy

In Walnut Cove -a community of 1600 souls — a proposed immense data center is being considered. It has put two very vocal camps — pro/con— spitting fire

This is a huge amount of land, using high amounts of electricity and water on the dan river with questionable returns

Im at this pojnt neutral feeling a lot of hype and misinformation seems to be the case in anything anymore

<>

A large data center project, codenamed “Project Delta,” is proposed for an 1,845-acre site near Walnut Cove, North Carolina, sparking significant community debate between potential economic benefits and concerns over environmental impact, energy use (Duke Energy grid), historic land (Upper Saura Town), potential pollution (Dan River), and lack of guaranteed tech tenants, with the Stokes County Planning Board denying rezoning, but County Commissioners holding the final decision for a January 2026 meeting.

Key Details:
Developer: Engineered Land Solutions (ELS).
Location: Land along Coon Joyce Road/Tuttle Road, near Belews Creek Steam Station.

Project Name: “Project Delta”.

Status: Rezoning request from agricultural to industrial is under review by Stokes County Commissioners after the Planning Board recommended denial.
Community Concerns: Historic land (Saura Nation), energy drain on Duke Energy, potential methane generator pollution, low job creation, possible AI bubble impact, and Dan River pollution.
Next Steps: A public hearing for the rezoning request is scheduled for January 12, 2026, with the Commissioners making the final decision.

Why it’s a Hot Topic:
Economic vs. Environmental: A classic clash over large-scale development, balancing job creation and investment against local heritage and environmental preservation.

Energy Demand: Data centers require massive power, raising questions about strain on Duke Energy’s grid and potential electricity rate hikes.
Historical Significance: The proposed site holds cultural importance for local Native American tribes (Saura, Occaneechi Band).

What’s Next:
Keep an eye on the Stokes County Commissioners’ meeting on January 12, 2026, for the final decision on the rezoning.
To understand the local sentiment better, would you like to see the specific reasons why residents are concerned about the project’s impact on the environment and local culture?

Its amazing the plants we consider weeds are so rich in medicinal qualities.

This year im going to try to collect and dry many for tea

A particularly important but annoying one STINGING NETTLE. Wear gloves to collect as the name is well deserved.

Makes great tea. I never add anything to any tea.

How did your dads 100th birthday go off? Did you have a quiet few for dinner/etc or a bigger bash?

I know half a year ago your anticipated plans are about 180 due to your current medical saga

Have you started infusions? If yes any good results yet?

All the siblings and step-siblings came from around the world. My younger brother brought his two daughters, LionsDaughter was there, and my older brother was there with his daughter, her spouse, and my brother’s son. Step=sister and hubs was there.

I believe there was 15 at the restaurant. Dad was pleased with the interaction. Everyone said individual quiet greetings. But, as everyone was in the area, private meetings with Dad and with each took place.

Basically, I remained in the background. I had no energy for much at all.

As to my infusions, I will have a hep test, required for one of the meds, on Monday. Then, Wed. I will have a long day, slowly receiving the meds. Thursday will go much fast. Then I wait 4 weeks and do the infusions again.

What a nice gathering for your father! He must have been so touched that everyone traveled to be with him. Wow. Living to be 100. I get tired just thinking about that!
