The city chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America has officially endorsed Israel foe and Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani for mayor.

Mamdani, a member of the DSA, was arrested Oct. 13, 2023, for participating in a protest outside Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s Brooklyn residence, demanding a cease-fire after Israel struck Gaza in response to Hamas’ brutal terror attack a week earlier.

Last year, he also introduced the “Not on Our Dime!: Ending New York Funding of Israeli Settler Violence Act” — legislation aimed at barring New York-based charitable groups from engaging in “unauthorized support of Israeli settlement activity.”

...

As a DSA candidate, Mamdani would almost certainly be the most anti-Israel candidate in the race

...

NYC-DSA has officially decided to endorse Zohran Mamdani in the June 2025 Democratic primary election for mayor of New York City,

...

a proven socialist and a cadre-member of NYC-DSA

...

The socialists in recent years have focused on state legislative races and the City Council after helping elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Congress in 2018.

Hitler wasn’t a socialist—he hijacked the word to gain support, then crushed actual socialists once in power. His regime preserved private ownership and partnered with big business in a fascist model: state-controlled capitalism serving nationalist and militarist goals. That’s the opposite of socialism.

Mamdani, a member of the DSA, was elected in a State which encourages non-citizens to vote in local elections.
In an area where everything is very expensive, and "the rent is too dammed high", any offer of a 'freebie' gets results and votes.
Freezing rentals, free transportation, and municipal control sounds good until you realize the consequences at tax time, and budget shortfalls.

At least AOC got elected based on unifying the legitimate electorate, even though they may be illiterate and ignorant.
At least she is better looking at than Schumeer !

Isn’t state-controlled capitalism an oxymoron...?

I've been arguing for years that Xi/Chyna is a fascist state, despite the fact that they brand themselves as communists. Putz in Russia, too.

Good point. Yes and no (as to oxymoron).

Government control is always a counterforce to pure market freedom. But some level of control is always present—whether it’s the legal framework that enables markets to function, or the heavy-handed direction of a fascist regime.

So it’s a matter of degree.

But compared to a Marxist system, where the aim is state ownership of all productive assets, Hitler’s Germany still operated within a form of market capitalism—just one directed and subordinated to the state.

Absolutely agree. Deng was headed in the free market direction and Xi redirected that movement into fascism.

So it’s a matter of degree.

Oh, you mean like being half pregnant...?

I live in NYS.

FWIW, it's not a matter of degree to many of us here.

It's not a matter of degree in NYS? Do you mean that NYS government has absolute control over all businesses in the state such that business owners have no freedom in what they produce, buy, and sell?

I agree that NYS is oppressive, but it still isn't absolute control, is it?

BTW, I spent most of my career in NYC.

Our neighbor lost the family home to back property taxes.

I call that absolute control.

Interesting how the MSM studiously puts “democratic” in front of “socialist” to describe Mamdani. I guess they think that softens it, or makes it more palatable, which it probably does for some people. And lately I’ve noticed some of them have been capitalizing “Democratic”. The media is constantly giving leftist politicians these helpful little nudges. (btw, I’m not talking about this particular article which is making a specific reference to his relation to the Democratic Socialists of America).

I’ll add that Stephen Miller described Mamdani as an “anarcho-socialist” the other day. No doubt he chose that wording very intentionally to push back against the media’s soft-pedaling of Mamdani’s ideology.

Note to the DoJ: If you can find the time, I suggest a close look at NYS’s land banks.

I think using democrat and socialist together is intended to imply European. The left wing Islamist extremist is to be applauded for being European in his political positions.

Q for the NYPD: What’s the difference? One candidate will croak the city slower?

We need to secure our elections and stop allowing Deep State to select our candidates for us.

We started with socialism vs. free markets, but now you’re moving the goalposts to bad real estate law in one state. Government overreach in tax enforcement is a real issue—but it’s not proof of socialism. It’s a flaw in the system, not a change in the system.
