I despise marijuana. For that reason, I’m very glad when seemingly reputable studies back up my visceral sense that marijuana is a terrible drug that destroys people’s lives and, along the way, destroys American society.
First, I went to ChatGPT for it to sum up the obvious, which is that a drug that alters people’s temporal and spatial perception makes them lousy drivers:

The left is still way more dangerous than marijuana
It might be more accurate to say that marijuana has become much more dangerous than it used to be over the decades, but that’s a distinction without a difference, it has become as bad as any other long-term rec drug, and our children will be dealing with the stoner results even more than we are.
It’s a psychotropic drug that can induce schizophrenia with long-term use. It is also addicting. But the users of it tend to deny this with almost religious conviction, without even looking at the studies. So the first thing to go is a person’s sense of rationality.
Same in Washington.
Think of marijuana popularity as a product of the left.
So your comment is a bit pointless.
I’m still unloading the deep systemic issues of the Read trial to worry about if marijuana is properly stigmatized.
And Colorado.
As a way too experienced pot smoker in the 60’s, I saw many of my friends lose ambition and/or motivation other than to get high. I recognized it in myself and knew I had to change my lifestyle. I gave up pot and joined Navy (11 years) and have been on the best track since. Pot is an insidious disabling drug.
That’s true, and it’s a very good reason never to take marijuana at all!
Same in NY. Even on a cold day when everyone has their windows rolled-up.
I asked a NY Sheriff-friend what they do when they smell it coming from a car. He said "nothing - unless the driver is swerving all over the road, driving the wrong direction, etc... Its to difficult to test, and get a conviction, so we don't pull them over."
A couple common complaints about society that I hear lately:
1) Everyone is so stupid these days. The cashier at the store didn’t seem to know how to accept a cash payment. Unbelievable.
2) Everyone seems to be mentally ill these days. Maybe not literally, but they are “off”. From Karens who complain about everything, to people with illogical ideas and rambling monologues. They’re not right in the head.
I would suggest that cannabis use contributes to these common complaints.
Wife work mental health and sees the pot users losing their minds. The claim that pot does not affect brain cells is dead wrong.
Don’t forget all the drug addled “homeless” milling about asking for money or returnables.
There is no “housing crisis.” There’s a decent tenant crisis. Ask any landlord.
😂👍
I once held very libertarian views towards weed, and even hard drugs. In many ways, I still do.
But, my difficulty (and what libertarians find hard to justify) is that in the woke-left-welfare-state, 1) drugs are a position and political tool of the left 2) and two, their costs and consequences - which are very real - are socialized and born by society.
Libertarians (and leftists) rightly do not support business owners dumping chemical waste into rivers and lakes - because that is unlawful "taking" from the value of others' property, and public welfare, thus socializing the costs - often with collusion of politicians or government.
one can use exactly the same argument for drugs.
Pot may not have been as potent in the 70s & early 80s, but there was some pretty strong weed back then. I had a great time smoking with my friends from early 70s to early 80s. I don’t regret any of it.
However, when I hit 30, it just lost it’s appeal, and I pretty much quit cold turkey and never looked back.
My niece told her mom pot isn’t dangerous; it wouldn’t be legal if it was. So she uses.
If her reasoning skills are that bad before the drug, I can’t imagine what they are now.
😞
