MA governor on-track to spend more than $1 billion in FY2025 on ‘emergency shelter’ program that largely serves illegal migrants

To be honest, I for one am completely underwhelmed by the “largest deportation operation in American history.” Wake me up when we start deporting more illegals than Obummer and Crooked Joe, but, here’s a tip for ICE: Start at the shelters and hotels of Massachusetts.

A new item out at Fox News reveals that state governor Maura Healey’s administration is on-track to spend more than one billion dollars on its “Emergency Assistance” program, which largely services illegal migrants, just in Fiscal Year 2025. Here’s the story:

Gov. Maura Healey’s administration has already spent $830 million so far in FY25 – which started on July 1 – accommodating more than 4,000 families who have been receiving taxpayer-funded shelter, food, education, legal aid and case management.

The costs work out at about $3,496 per week per family, or around $1,000 per person per week for the program, known as the Emergency Assistance (EA) system.

The report only identifies 1,600 of the 4,000 families being migrants, but considering that the state categorizes illegal aliens as “Massachusetts residents” for the sake of eligibility, there’s no doubt that number is way off. Consider this, from an article at NBC:

Fueled by the highest immigration levels in decades, Massachusetts saw its largest population increase in 60 years between 2023 and 2024, according to Census data. Between July 1, 2023 and July 1, 2024, the state’s population increased 69,603 from 7,066,568 to 7,136,171 – a increase of just under 1% (0.985%).

As a reader/contributor pointed out: If Massachusetts has that much money to throw around, they don’t need any federal funding—finally! Harvard can stop whining about Donald Trump and go right to Healey’s office.

If she can hand out a billion to pampering criminal aliens, she can surely come up with a billion to offset the federal shortfall for one of the most prestigious colleges in the nation!

MA has chosen to coddle immigrants instead of their own citizens. The Federal Government should not reimburse them one thin dime for this. This is their decision, their trade off.

Is MA for Maine or Massachussetts?

These hard working people are a net positive to the US economy and life. Diversity is our strength. Homeless people have nowhere to go, that is why we don’t enforce living on the streets. We allow open air drinking, drugs, and prostitution, because people are hurting.

Just some hypocritical things government allows in our modern day.

Taxpayers? I remember a time when at least some politicians would voice concern for taxpayers. Their agenda nowadays supersedes any consideration they might have for us lowly taxpayers.

"MA governor Oppressed MA taxpayers are on-track to spend more than $1 billion in FY2025 on ‘emergency shelter’ program that largely serves illegal migrants"

There! Fixed it.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

If majority MA state taxpayers do not want to support illegal immigrants, then ALL patriots in the nation need to primary their beloved celebrity career crook federal lawmakers in 2026 and support Trump47 with a new Congress that will make sure that MA gets its constitutionally guaranteed republican form of government. (ALL senators could theoretically have been replaced twice+ by now since Obama's first midterm elections. But patriot voters have been asleep at the wheel.)

After all, it wouldn't be surprising if ALL taxpayers in the country are arguably supporting MA illegals with unconstitutional federal taxes facilitated by deep state Congress's ongoing abuse of its 16th Amendment powers (direct taxes).

The 16th Amendment has not only weakened our 4th Amendment protections imo, but is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for organized crime (imo), and desperately needs to be repealed along with the 17th Amendment, popular voting for federal senators.

We'll call the repeal amendment Trump's Boston Tea Party II Amendment.

Once unconstitutional federal taxing and spend is stopped, the states will ultimately find a tsunami of new revenues that they probably won't know what to do with imo, although healthcare is certainly on the short list of top priorities.

No sympathy for blue state voters that keep electing and
re-electing Democrat losers, both governors and mayors, that continue to drive their state into the dung pile.

Money laundering. Rats can’t raise a dime. DNC is in the poor house. Illegals are the new ‘shovel ready’ scam.

Boston and Massachusetts has been a “migrant” magnet for decades. Mostly Catholic ones (Haitians, Central Americans) due to the Catholic infrastructure set up by the Irish. Brazilians been there for a long time, hooking into the long time Portuguese and Cape Verde populations.

Portuguese men first arrived in Massachusetts through the American whaling industry. In the early 19th century, American whaling ships regularly stopped at the Azores, a Portuguese archipelago in the mid-Atlantic, to resupply and recruit crew members. Many young Azorean men—mostly farmers and fishermen facing overpopulation and limited opportunities at home—joined these ships as sailors.

The first significant wave of Portuguese immigrants to Massachusetts settled in whaling ports such as New Bedford, which became the leading whaling port in the United States after 1830. These Azorean crewmen began arriving in New Bedford prior to the Civil War and, after completing voyages, often remained in the area, bringing their families to join them. Over time, the Portuguese community expanded to other coastal towns in southeastern Massachusetts, including Provincetown, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard, as well as to the Boston area.

The strong connection between Portuguese immigrants and the whaling industry helped shape the cultural and economic landscape of these communities, with New Bedford becoming known as the “Portuguese capital of the United States” due to its large and influential Portuguese population.
